The Lion King and Beauty And The Beast are two of Disney’s greatest films, and they both feature amazing Disney duos. Timon and Pumba and then Cogsworth and Lumiere are two sets of incredible duos that bring both of their respective films to life.

While both of these duos are incredibly popular with Disney fans, everyone has their personal favorites. Within this list, we will provide five reasons why its Timon and Pumba and five reasons why it’s Cogsworth and Lumiere.

10 Timon & Pumba: They’re Funnier

While both of the Disney duos in this list are very funny, there’s no doubt that Timon and Pumba have the slight edge over the Beauty and the Beast characters. Every time Timon and Pumba appear they always entertain guests, constantly making people laugh.

Whether it is Timon taking credit for all of Pumba’s ideas or the fact that they manage to make a lion their friend, rather than their enemy. Thay have incredibly fun personalities and bounce off each other incredibly well, which makes them so joyful to watch.

9 Cogsworth & Lumiere: Slight Arguing

One way that Cogsworth and Lumiere completely differ is the fact that they quite often bicker and argue with each other. They have very different personalities and while that doesn’t always work out for the best, in this case, it absolutely does.

They never have full-blown arguments to the point where they fallout. But because Cogsworth is impatient and likes things to be organised and Lumiere is looser and free-willed, they do end up coming to loggerheads at times, but it is always funny.

8 Timon & Pumba: Hakuna Matata

It was Timon and Pumba who first spoke what remains one of Disney’s most iconic catchphrases, “Hakuna Matata.” It means no worries, and that is why they’re such a great pair because they are laid back and relaxed. They don’t take things too seriously and that allows audiences to easily connect with them.

They’re all about fun and having a good time which is why they’re such a great duo. They aren’t going around bickering and falling out frequently, they are instead working together and being best pals, which is why they are so great.

7 Cogsworth & Lumiere: Lumiere’s Culinary Skills

“Be Our Guest” is one of the most iconic songs in Disney history, and that is where Lumiere shines the brightest. Even though the moment comes from him and Cogsworth disagreeing about whether or not to host the dinner, they end up going for it and the decision is worthwhile.

It’s an amazing moment in the movie and sees Lumiere really burst out brightly as Cogsworth bobbles along trying to convince him still that the idea wasn’t a good one. It’s a brilliant scene and it perfectly sums up why they’re such a great duo.

6 Timon & Pumba: They Teach Simba Friendship

When Timon and Pumba first meet Simba he is a young lion who is very much still learning the ways of life. Having just lost his father and fled his family and home, he is left unknown about the ways of the world. However, that is where Timon and Pumba step in.

The duo does everything they can for him to help Simba grow and basically become the mentors of his life. They manage to smartly guide him and teach him as best they can, showing him what true friendship really is.

5 Cogsworth & Lumiere: Fighting Abilities

While Timon and Pumba do get involved in the big fight scene at the end of The Lion King, they are nowhere near as involved as Cogsworth and Lumiere. They are the ones who actually lead the battle against the villagers when they storm the castle, and it is hilarious to see.

They might not be humans but they certainly know how to put up a fight, leading the rest of the castle items to join them in the charge. They have some great moments in those scenes and it shows their togetherness, even in tough times.

4 Timon & Pumba: Their Own Movie

Something that clearly highlights their popularity amongst fans is the fact that Disney created an actual movie specifically tailored around Timon and Pumba. Lion King One And A Half is all about the popular duo, telling the original story from their perspective.

While it might not be the most well-known Disney film of all time, the fact that they had a movie based on them proves that they are beloved characters. While Cogsworth and Lumiere are great characters, they never gained their own movie.

3 Cogsworth & Lumiere: They Care For Everyone

Even though Cogsworth and Lumiere themselves might argue and fall out with each other but they are both incredibly caring individuals. Both Cogsworth and Lumiere spend all of their time trying to help out everyone else in the castle, including Belle and the Beast.

Everything they do is try and save everyone in the castle and the fact they are able to care about that many people shows why they are such great characters. While they look after each other, it is their true compassion that makes them such great characters.

2 Timon & Pumba: Don’t Argue

Disney duos are great because of how close they are as friends. They are the characters that people watch and really relate to, thinking of them as their own friendships. That’s why Timon and Pumba are the best because they don’t fallout or argue as other characters do.

Lumiere and Cogsworth spend long periods of time falling out and arguing, but that isn’t the case for The Liong King duo. They just have nothing but love for one another, and that’s why they’re the ultimate Disney duo.

1 Cogsworth & Lumiere: Fight For Their Life

While Timon and Pumba certainly go through their fair share of challenges, Cogsworth and Lumiere literally have to fight for their lives together. They are trapped in the body of a clock and a candlestick with time against them, which is made even worse when Gaston and the villagers head to kill the Beast.

Fans are given a clear reason to connect with them as a pair because they literally have to work together to fight for their lives. Because of that, they are the best duo as they fight for their lives and prove how close they really are deep down.
