Disney+ is booming, and to keep up the action, the world’s hottest new streaming service has announced a lineup of original content that will be heading for it soon. Though some of the TV shows and movies set to premiere are brand new, many of them are remakes that have already hit theaters. We’re here to look at these rebooted films now.

On this list, we’ll be including every movie that has been confirmed to get (or has already gotten) a remake or reboot that will premiere on Disney+, from the animated classics to cult classics.

With that said, it’s time to head to grab some popcorn and start streaming; Here are all the upcoming reboots coming to Disney+.

10 Lady And The Tramp

The only Disney+ original film reboot to have already debuted is this live-action retelling of Lady and the Tramp.

Based on the 1955 Disney animation, this musical romance tells of an upper-class Cocker Spaniel who embarks on an adventure with a homeless Schnauzer-mutt through the streets of New Orleans soon after she finds herself being ignored by her owners.

Though nothing can beat the original, fans generally liked the sweetness of the remade film.

9 Three Men And A Baby

Disney+ announced that it is reworking the 1987 comedy film known as Three Men and a Baby. Though few details on the new project have been announced, we’re sure it’ll follow a plot similar to the original.

Starring Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg, Ted Danson, and Nancy Travis, this American comedy tells of three New York City bachelors who end up getting involved in the care of a baby who is abandoned outside their loft.

8 Cheaper By The Dozen

Cheaper by the Dozen started out as a semi-autobiographical novel penned by Frank Bunker Gilbreth Jr. and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey. It tells of the lives of 13 children who grow up under the same chaotic roof.

The book was first turned into a film in the 1950s, and after it received a stage adaption and musical, it scored another reboot. The 2003 movie stars Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt starring as the parents.

As it turns out, classic stories don’t die quickly. Disney+ is also set to recreate this story onscreen.


7 Diary Of A Wimpy Kid

While Diary of a Wimpy Kid started out as a book series, it eventually became a film series.

The story about a boy who deals with the insanity of middle school received films in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2017. However, the central character, Greg Heffley, will soon be dealing with crazy scenarios yet again as the film is being rebooted for Disney+.

Production for the latest chaotic tale could begin as early as 2020.

6 Father Of The Bride

Though the original Father of the Bride film debuted in 1950, its 1991 remake is perhaps the more popular of the two. Starring Steve Martin, Diane Keaton, and Kimberly Williams, this comedy tells of the owner of an athletic shoe company who has to deal with the unexpected engagement of his daughter.

The movie received great reviews in addition to being a box office success. It received a sequel, Father of the Bride Part II, in 1995. While a third installment in the series had been rumored, it never came to fruition.

The original film will instead be getting rebooted for Disney+.

5 Home Alone

The classic ’90s comedy film known as Home Alone is also set to be remade for Disney+.

The original tale, starring Macaulay Culkin, tells of an eight-year-old boy named Kevin who is accidentally left home from his parent’s European Christmas vacation trip. While he’s at first excited about his freedom, he must soon act out all his best schemes when two rediculous burglars attempt to break into the house.

More info on the reboot is yet to be released.

4 Night At The Museum

Though the first Night at the Museum was released in the 2000s, it’s already getting a remake for Disney+.

Starring names including Ben Stiller, Dick van Dyke, and Robin Williams, the fantasy-comedy tells of a man who becomes a night guard at a museum filled with artifacts that come to life at night.

The original film received two more sequels in 2009 and 2014.

3 Peter Pan

The 1953 animated film about the boy who wouldn’t grow up is also getting a live-action retelling.

The original story tells of a flying boy named Peter Pan who takes the Darling children out of their London bedroom and into the magical world of Neverland. However, when the villainous Captain Hook sets out to take Pan down, the kids question whether or not they belong in the fanciful world.

Disney announced that David Lowery would be directing and co-writing the new film with Toby Halbrooks, and in July 2018, it was announced that the movie would be hitting Disney+ instead of theaters.

2 The Sword In The Stone

Disney’s ’60s musical fantasy known as The Sword in the Stone is set to get its own live-action reboot on Disney+.

The animated film tells of King Arthur’s rise to a better future after, as an orphaned child, he runs into the wizard known as Merlin.

Though the original film received mixed reviews, it was a box office success. With fresh writers, producers, and directors, the latest movie has the potential to make better the issues that the original possessed.

1 The Parent Trap

The last Disney movie to be getting a direct-to-Disney+ remake is none other than The Parent Trap.

The original film, which debuted in 1961, told of two twins who, though separated at birth, reunite with each other at a summer camp. There goal: to get their parents back together.

The film received another reboot starring Lindsay Lohan as the 11-year-old twins, Hallie and Annie, in 1998. Being that both versions to have come out possess their own type of charm, we’re excited to see what the latest one will look like.
