One of the most intimidating features of Doctor Doom is the supervillain’s metal armor, which makes the Fantastic Four foe one of the coolest-looking characters in Marvel Comics. In a new cosplay from Alex Weldon (@kyengen), Doctor Doom comes to life, showing how much the recent Fantastic Four movie fumbled the Latverian ruler’s look and how the Marvel Cinematic Universe can do right by the villain by giving him a bulkier appearance.

Doctor Doom is one of the greatest villains in the Marvel Universe, who has been one of the greatest adversaries for the Fantastic Four and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes since debuting in Fantastic Four #5 back in 1962. The Jack Kirby and Stan Lee-created supervillain is the ruler of the Kingdom Latveria, a powerful magic-user, and one of the most brilliant people on the planet. Victor Von Doom met Reed Richards in college and quickly developed into one of his great rivals. However, his face was permanently scarred after an experiment went wrong, leading him to become the supervillain readers know today. Doctor Doom has been adapted to live-action a few times, most famously by actor Julian McMahon in Tim Story’s mid-2000s Fantastic Four films and most recently in Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four, where Toby Kebbell played him.

On his Instagram page, Alex Weldon (@kyengen) shared his cosplay of Doctor Doom. The look is pretty much-perfect, as the villain is seen wearing his massive armor alongside his trademark robe. The armor makes him feel intimdiating and helps bring his desired warlike persona to life. The details are spot-on, as the cosplayers take on Doctor Doom features his terrifying mask and featured chainmail-like protection underneath the massive pieces of body armor. The Marvel Comics cosplay showcases how terrifying Doom is.

The cosplay also shows how badly Trank’s Fantastic Four botched their version of Doctor Doom. While Toby Kebbell did his best to bring the villain to life despite the numerous production problems with the 2015 film, the version of Doctor Doom who appeared wasn’t intimidating at all. Instead, he felt too small and robotic-looking. Doom should strike fear – unfortunately, Kebbell’s version did not.

Hopefully, with Jon Watts upcoming Fantastic Four film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Doom is finally given the intimidating suit he deserves. After all, he’s one of Marvel Comics’ greatest supervillains of all time – and his armor is a big reason why. Alex Weldon’s (@kyengen) cosplay shows how great Doctor Doom could look if made to be more comic-accurate.
