There’s only one day left to make sure you’re eligible for Magic the Gathering Arena’s annual renewal rewards. Make sure you’ve logged in by September 16 to secure your very own rewards-giving egg.

With the release of Innistrad: Midnight Hunt on MTG Arena tomorrow (September 16), the annual Standard set rotation will also come into effect. As is tradition, to help players catch up with a new, much-smaller Standard ecosystem, Wizards of the Coast is giving away free cards from both Midnight Hunt and other recent sets.

Wizards outlined how the rewards will be given out in the most recent State of the Game blog post. If you’ve logged in to the game on any platform between Zendikar Rising’s launch in September 2020 (the last Standard rotation) and when Midnight Hunt launches on on September 16, 2021, your account will be accredited with a weird little thing called a “Renewal Egg”.

Once Midnight Hunt has launched, the egg will hatch and you will be rewarded with 10 rare or mythic cards from the any of the Standard 2022 sets (Zendikar Rising, Kaldheim, Strixhaven, Dungeons & Dragons: Adventures in the Forgotten Realms and Innistrad: Midnight Hunt).

On top of that, you will also be eligible to complete the renewal set pass. By levelling up the pass, you can unlock up to ten uncommon and three mythic rare Innistrad: Midnight Hunt cards. On completing the pass (at level 31), you’ll then unlock the Standard 2021 card sleeve, that shows of Innistrad’s mysterious cultists structure, the Celestus.

Wizards also confirmed that the two rewards codes it gave out recently to apologise for ongoing technical issues will be removed at the same time as set rotation. That means you only have a few more hours to use ScaleUp and PARCELMYR to claim rewards including mastery pass XP and free cosmetics before they are gone forever.

This rotation is set to be a big one, with the format-dominating Throne of Eldraine leaving Standard alongside Theros: Beyond Death, Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths and Core 2021. Cards from those sets will, of course, still be playable in Arena’s Historic format. In tabletop paper play, Midnight Hunt triggers the Standard set rotation when it launches a bit later, on September 24.
