Twitch bans are nothing new and usually nothing special. People get banned from the platform all the time for a variety of reasons and for various lengths of time. Those reasons and the duration of the bans often appear to be pretty random, but even when it’s someone notable with a large number of followers, shortly after the ban has been lifted it has quickly been forgotten about. Unless that someone gets banned forever, of course, and the reason for that permanent ban is never revealed.

That’s what happened to Dr Disrespect back in 2020, perhaps one of the most famous and instantly recognizable streamers in the world. Dr Disrespect was banned from Twitch never to return, and almost two years later, neither party has divulged why that is. There has been an update this week though as the streamer revealed the legal issues stemming from the ban between himself and Twitch have been resolved.

Dr Disrespect posted a tweet reading nothing more than “moving on” with a photo of a more lengthy statement attached. “I have resolved my legal dispute with Twitch. No party admits any wrongdoing”, the statement reads. Twitch has issued an almost identical statement to PC Gamer that reads, “Dr Disrespect and Twitch have resolved their legal dispute. No party admits to any wrongdoing.”

Shortly after news of Dr Disrespect’s ban became public, fans started to try and figure out why exactly the streamer had been banned. There’s a moment in one of Dr Disrespect’s final streams on Twitch where he glances down at his phone and the mood changes pretty quickly. Viewers have theorized that’s the moment Dr Disrespect learned the news that his relationship with Twitch would be coming to a premature end, but neither party has confirmed whether that was the case.

Dr Disrespect has actually hinted that wasn’t the case, claiming Twitch neglected to inform him why he had been banned for a very long time. Unsurprising if true as other streamers with short bans have claimed never to have been told why they were banned. Dr Disrepsect has revealed since that the reason for his ban has been revealed to him, and that’s what spurred him on to take legal action. At this point, it seems as if we may never know what resulted in Dr Disrespect being banned from Twitch forever. The streamer has also clarified he will never return to Twitch.
