Popular Twitch streamer Dr Disrespect has revealed that he’s making way more as an entertainer than he did as a developer for Call of Duty.

For those of you who may not know, Disrespect worked for Sledgehammer Games as a level designer for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. He’s since moved into a more profitable stream of work that, while still very-much gaming related, earns him a lot more than he ever made as a dev.

The Twitch personality still appears to have a passion for game design, having recently created his own 2v2 map based on Modern Warfare. But he’s unlikely to return to his former job, unless video game streaming somehow becomes unpopular.

Speaking on stream earlier this week, Disrespect would respond to a question from a donation message about his earnings.

“When I’m making millions and millions and millions and millions and millions of dollars, just to put on a show, in comparison to $56,000 plus bonus after three years of working on a project and bonus is barely as much as the salary,” he declared.

“The math is just a little different, it’s a little off.”

The Doc began working as a level designer at Sledgehammer back in 2012 and is perhaps best known for his level creation for the aforementioned title. The iconic Solar map is among the handiworks he can boast.

He decided to leave Sledgehammer to pursue a career as a streamer three years later and the move has paid off massively. His Twitch account has gotten him 3.7 million followers and over 22,000 subscribers since then.

He earns a cool $100,000 plus a month simply based on the number of subs, with Twitch paying $4.50 per, with tier 2 and tier 3 worth a lot more. This does not include donations or ad revenue, so one can imagine just how much his Twitch account is worth.

Top streamers also make unbelievable amounts of cash from sponsored streams. In fact, that’s where the real money is. Ninja famously earned 1 million (reportedly) to play and tweet about Apex Legends when it launched back in February.

So no, no one’s going back to level design after that, unless they’re wanting to as a hobby.
