In kicking off the Dragon Ball World Adventure at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con on Wednesday afternoon, thousands of fans joined Sean Schemmel, the English voice actor behind the character, Goku, in forming the largest collective Kamehameha the world has ever seen. Representatives from Guinness World Records were present at the event, and according to sources, the crowd accomplished their goal by a large margin.

If you’re unfamiliar with the world of Dragon Ball, and curious as to what exactly a Kamehameha is, it’s when a character from the popular anime, namely Goku, presses their wrists together at their side in order to charge an attack, followed by thrusting their arms forward, unleashing a large, neon blue ball of energy at their enemy. While one performs a Kamehameha, they simultaneously speak the word, “Kamehameha,” dragging it out throughout the motion, and emphasizing the, “ha,” portion of the word as they unleash the attack.

Seeing as there weren’t any Saiyans present at the event, there was most likely a lack of blue balls of energy, but participants were still able to be apart of something extremely exciting and historical. Many Dragon Ball cosplayers took part in the record-breaking attempt dressed as their favorite characters, and the first 100 people to show up even received their own scouter, an eye accessory used by characters in the anime to measure the power level of their enemies.

This event ultimately served as a kick-off to the 2019 Dragon Ball World Adventure, which can be found at the Marriott Marina Terrace at the Marriot Marquis San Diego during San Diego Comic-Con, and is open each day from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Fans of the series can expect to find life-size, detailed statues of their favorite characters, exclusive Dragon Ball merchandise, as well as a Dragon Ball Sticker Rally.

After San Diego Comic-Con, Dragon Ball World Adventure is scheduled to continue its tour, traveling to New York City, Mexico, Germany, Spain, China, and Japan throughout the remainder of 2019. Fans from all over the world will get a chance to experience this event, although it is unlikely that any of them will have the same opportunity to perform a record-breaking Kamehameha with Goku himself.
