Dragon Ball is a lively franchise full of superhumans, aliens, and gods that span from Earth to other planets and universes. Due to the diversity of characters and species in the series, it is not too difficult to imagine what a crossover would look like with another popular anime series, Pokémon.

Both Dragon Ball and Pokémon focus heavily on training and battling, and therefore, Pokémon would fit right into the Dragon Ball universe as partners in combat. Even if the likes of Goku and Vegeta believe they can do all the fighting on their own, it couldn’t hurt to have a little help from Pokémon who synergize well with them.

10 Goku: Infernape

Goku is a mighty Saiyan by birth and a martial arts expert by experience. The Saiyan in him loves to battle and has the ability to transform into a giant rampaging monkey when his tail is present. In contrast, the martial artist in him endured intense training from the one and only Master Roshi.

Infernape is a Pokémon who is both a fighter and a monkey, just like Goku. Its Fighting type gives it many hand-to-hand combat attacks such as Close Combat and Mach Punch to assist Goku in giving any villain a good beating.

9 Vegeta: Incineroar

One of Vegeta’s prominent traits is his competitive nature. He always strives to be the best warrior around and never lets his intense rivalry with Goku die down.

Incineroar meshes almost too well with Vegeta, as a Pokémon who loves a good challenge and is determined to grow stronger and stronger. Together, Vegeta and Incineroar would be able to have friendly matches that will never be too easy for either side.

8 Piccolo: Gastrodon

Piccolo is a green Namekian who resembles a slug with his antennae and regenerative properties. He knows how to keep calm and maintain his composure even in tough battle situations.

Naturally, Piccolo would get along well with the Sea Slug Pokémon, Gastrodon. Like Piccolo, Gastrodon has the ability to recover and regenerate parts of its body if necessary. It also thrives in calm environments, which means level-headed Piccolo would be a perfect trainer for it.

7 Gohan: Lucario

Gohan might not be as passionate about fighting as his father, but he does fight for the sake of protecting the world and stopping crime under the guise of the Great Saiyaman. When he engages in a serious battle, he is often driven by emotion.

Known as the Aura Pokémon, Lucario has the ability to sense the emotions of others and can use that aura to its advantage in battle. According to its Pokédex entry, it will only trust people who possess a great sense of justice, meaning it would definitely click with Gohan.

6 Bulma: Pheromosa

Throughout the Dragon Ball franchise, Bulma is often referred to as a beauty. That being said, she’s also a tough cookie who can handle the likes of Vegeta as her husband.

Similarly, Pheromosa is known as the beauty amongst the Ultra Beast Pokémon. It should not be underestimated, however, because it is a hyper-offensive beast who can dominate with its high stats in Attack, Special Attack, and Speed. Together, Bulma and Pheromosa would be the most beautiful power duo around.

5 Chi-Chi: Bewear

Chi-Chi possesses two very extreme traits. While she is a loving mother to Gohan and Goten, she can also be quite aggressive and scary, especially toward her husband, Goku.

For that reason, Chi-Chi would relate well to Bewear, a motherly albeit feared Pokémon of the Alola Region. Like Chi-Chi, Bewear loves to take care of others but also has been known to seriously injure people with its powerful hugs.

4 Future Trunks: Absol

Initially a mysterious boy, Future Trunks came to the Z-fighters’ timeline to warn them of two potential threats: evil androids and a heart condition that would kill Goku. He did so in order to spare the Z-fighters from the tragic and chaotic future that already existed in his own timeline.

Like Future Trunks, Absol is a Pokémon who shows up to warn humans about any incoming danger that it senses. If Future Trunks had Absol at his side, they would no doubt travel together to stop disasters before they happen.

3 Goten: Chimchar

In terms of appearance, Goten is practically a carbon copy of his father, Goku. Personality-wise, he is a very playful and curious kid who enjoys a friendly battle.

Seeing how Goku’s perfect Pokémon partner is Infernape, it is only fitting for Goten’s partner to be Infernape’s pre-evolution, Chimchar. With an equally playful nature, Chimchar would love to be young Goten’s training partner and playmate.

2 Krillin: Clobbopus

Krillin is easily identified by his round head with dots on it. Despite his relatively small build, he is one of the strongest humans on Earth who can certainly pack a punch.

Likewise, Clobbopus is also a small Fighting-type who loves to take jabs with its tentacles that resemble boxing gloves. It even has prominent dots on its head to match Krillin’s appearance.

1 Shenron: Rayquaza

As the green dragon who is summoned by the power of the Dragon Balls, Shenron of course plays a key role in the Dragon Ball franchise. It is his responsibility to grant the wishes of those who gather all seven Dragon Balls.

If Shenron is the green dragon of Dragon Ball, Rayquaza is his equivalent in Pokémon. In addition to both being long and legendary green dragons, Rayquaza also possesses the ability to fulfill the “fervent wish” of its trainer by Mega Evolving. There’s no doubt that Shenron and Rayquaza are meant to be partners in crime.
