Are you one of those people who needs to check out every point of interest on your way to an objective? Or one of those who wants to unlock every upgrade for your character? Congratulations! You’re going to be playing Dying Light 2 for all of 2022. Developer Techland has confirmed that it will take around 500 hours to 100 percent the game. And for some reason they also confirmed that it would take 534 hours to walk from Warsaw to Madrid.

“It’s about 100% completion rate, most of the players who are in for story and side quests will be able to complete the game quicker, it will still be a solid experience though,” clarified a follow up tweet. The story and side quests will take around 70 – 80 hours to complete “if you’re not in a rush”.

Techland seems pretty optimistic about players clocking in those kinds of hours considering February 2022 will also see the launch of games like Life is Strange: Remastered Collection, Sifu, Lost Ark, Horizon: Forbidden West, Elden Ring, and The Witch Queen expansion for Destiny 2.

It seems this announcement didn’t quite get the reaction that the developer wanted, as it had to clarify what these 500 hours would entail in three separate tweets. Besides completing all the main and side quests, you’d probably also have to find all the collectibles, max out the skill trees, and complete any other open-world busywork that the devs have in store.

We got the opportunity to preview the game back in November, and here’s what Eric Switzer thought about it: “I’m confident that Dying Light 2 will deliver on the combat, but I’m less certain about some of its other changes. Techland is going in a lot of directions at once and I’m not sure how cohesive all of these new systems and mechanics will be. After so many years of delays and apparent workplace dysfunction, part of me expected Dying Light 2 to be a directionless, unfocused mess. I’m overjoyed to say that, based on what I played, that isn’t the case at all. The question that remains is whether or not the sequel will surpass the original.”
