You can already get Eve on Steam or its own website, but options are always nice I guess.

Eve Online, the biggest space MMO in the world, is now available on the Epic Games Store. There’s really no particular reason to get Eve on Epic if you already have it on another platform, but it’s always nice to give players options. And developer CCP Games thinks it might even get them a few new players.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Epic to bring EVE Online to the masses on the Epic Game Store,” said Eve Online creative director Bergur Finnbogason. “We recently gave EVE’s new player experience a major overhaul and launched a plethora of activities designed to excite players logging in to EVE for the first time. We look forward to meeting you in New Eden!”

If you are new to Eve Online, it’s come a long way since the old days where it was given the dubious nickname of “spreadsheets online.” There’s still a lot of information to absorb in Eve, but no more than other, established MMOs (for which you’ll find plenty of wikis to answer any questions you might have). Plus, Eve recently revamped its new player experience to be a little more welcoming to newcomers and to give them a dedicated play area that protects them from the predations of other players.

Mining, trade, and exploration are all available career paths in Eve, but the job that gets the most headlines in Eve is definitely the more violent kind. Eve Online has the Guinness World Record for both the largest online MMO battle of all time as well as the most costly battle in real-world dollars. Some of the larger capital ships can cost hundreds of dollars and if somebody comes along and blows it up, you don’t get your money back.

It’s this wild west, “do anything” atmosphere that has drawn over 24 million players to Eve and over 2 million players since 2020. It’s also led to the destruction of approximately 91 million spaceships since CCP started tracking game data in 2007.

To celebrate Eve’s arrival on Epic, CCP is offering the new Bronze, Silver, and Gold starter packs for new players full of skill points and cosmetics, as well as the new Cyber Suit Pack which lets you augment your pilot with the unique Semiotique clothing pack.
