As the latest title to join the esteemed Final Fantasy line, Final Fantasy XV did plenty of things that fans had never seen before. So much so that many franchise devotees encouraged newcomers to try it out, even if they had never been fans of the series before. From the wide-open world to the car that was essentially a playable character (but not sortable, sorry), to the four friends serving as co-protagonists, it was something that had never been seen before in Final Fantasy.

But it didn’t fail to deliver on the character front either, and thus it is required that all main characters in the title get sorted into their proper Hogwarts houses.

10 Aranea Highwind—Ravenclaw

A hearty, well-balanced character, Aranea has some of the prototypical traits of a Ravenclaw. She is wildly independent, fluttering between causes based on which she most agrees with, but in the end, she uses her sharp wit and discerning sense of right and wrong to maker her decisions. She doesn’t follow blindly and she doesn’t fall in line because she’s got too much brainpower to be mindless.

This independence leads to her falling on the good and bad side of the main party, as she is both a boss fight and a companion at various points.

9 Cor Leonis—Gryffindor

You don’t grow to become one of the best fighters, revered as “Cor the Immortal,” by being lax and unmotivated. Cor Leonis is a determined, confident warrior who is bound by honor to serve King Regis. Such that, even when he doesn’t agree with him, he still stands by him and fights honorably for his cause.

Cor doesn’t stick around long, but during his time with Noctis, he is always ready to lend a helping hand and assist the young royal in finding his way in life, thus Cor’s loyalty comes out as a fine complement to his brevity and adeptness in battle.

8 Lunafreya—Hufflepuff

Lunafreya is more of an accessory to the story than a main character, but her lifelong relationship with Noctis connects her to the story often enough that her personality comes through quite clearly. And the biggest trait that stands out is compassion for all and selflessness.

She is incredibly polite and while she has a couple of traits outside of Hufflepuff, like the independence and intelligence of a Ravenclaw, overall, the fact that she has so much love for those around her makes her a Hufflepuff, coupled with her loyalty for her people and her determined hard work.

7 Cindy Sophiar—Hufflepuff

Cindy is the technician that the four main characters turn to when they need help with their car, and she engages in such with an enthusiasm that is unmatched by anyone else in the game. While numerous characters make casual romantic passes at her, she is only ever interested in her work, thus making her one of the most hard-working characters in the game to go along with her general enthusiasm for something that not everyone would be that interested in. This lands her squarely in Hufflepuff.

6 Cid Sophiar—Hufflepuff

While he comes across as kind of a hardened old man, this is all just a front for what he actually is, which is a loving father, a caring friend, and the kind of person that will do whatever it takes to help the ones he loves. He has set aside whatever aspiration he had in his youth to help the younger folks he’s now associated with grow into the mature adults they need to be. That places him, like his daughter, in the hard-working, lovable house of Hufflepuff.

5 Ardyn—Slytherin

Ardyn is a tough guy to peg when he’s first introduced. He seems good-natured, he seems to be a good guy. But as Noctis and the gang get to know him, it’s clear how ruthless and patronizing he is. He’s sharp, intelligent and determined as can be, but in the end, it’s how twisted and borderline demented he is that lands him in Slytherin.

The fact that he kills Lunafreya and lords himself over Noctis just furthers his own ruthlessness even if, in the end, he does show a bit of graciousness. He’s still a true Slytherin.

4 Gladiolus—Gryffindor

If he walks and talks like a Gryffindor, he’s probably a Gryffindor, and such is the case with the burly, bare-chested Gladiolus, who anyone can tell is a Gryffindor just by looking at. He is loyal to his group (and to Cup of Noodles) to a fault, he is honor-bound to do what is right but most of all, he is the first into battle. He’s the bravest and the most willing to leap into action, even when Ignis is telling him that it probably isn’t necessary.

To Gladiolus, it is always necessary, and don’t you forget it.

3 Ignis—Ravenclaw

Ignis serves a lot of purposes for the group and stands as one of the best characters to have ever graced the franchise, with an arc that is as remarkable as it is devastating. He’s the least self-serving of the group while also ranking in as the most intelligent and the most clever. He is always the one the other three turn to when it’s time to make a decision and his choices are almost always vindicated, even when they aren’t followed up with.

2 Prompto—Hufflepuff

Prompto is often the oddball out of the group because of his lesser social status. He’s playful and has a good sense of humor, but that often leads to him not being taken seriously, which just leads him to working harder and trying to do what he can for the group. He’s not a warrior, so he has to contribute in other ways, like lifting up his comrades.

That’s Hufflepuff clear as day. He’s in it for the team, he’s not going to go charging into battle, making reckless choices or anything like that. He’s just a good dude. Every group needs a plain old good dude.

1 Noctis—Slytherin

Final Fantasty XV did something truly remarkable by delivering a four-man protagonist collective with one representative from each Hogwarts house. Although it must be said that while the other three are easy to place, Noctis isn’t 100% Slytherin, even if he is a majority. He is very withdrawn, and handles his problems and his grief on his own, rarely opening up.

His royal heritage weighs on his mind, and though he tries to downplay it, it’s clear how much it affects his decision making. Of the four, he has the most distinguishable “high class” habits, and his ambition and determination is there too, even if he buries it under his reclusion.
