This month brought with it a new Pokémon Presents livestream, featuring a particular focus on two new upcoming games in the franchise: Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, the highly-anticipated Sinnoh remakes that are set to come out in late 2021.
The Pokémon Presents livestream was announced about a week beforehand and included footage from a wide range of Pokémon games, from the mobile-based Pokémon Go to the new Pokémon-inspired MOBA Pokémon Unite. The two Sinnoh-based games were the more significant parts of the presentation, however, and each received a lengthy spotlight on top of the trailer footage that was released this month, highlighting gameplay and new features.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ release date is set for early 2022 according to its announcement in late February. The reveal confirmed rumors that had been circulating for a while regarding a Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild-esque open world game set in the Pokémon universe, and according to trailers the game is set to take players back to the feudal era of the Sinnoh region, documenting Pokémon in an era before Pokémon-human teams were common. Pokémon Legends: Arceus seems to mark a significant shift in the series’ typical gameplay patterns.

Along with an extensive look at Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ gameplay, fans of the franchise were treated to a glimpse of quite a few returning Pokémon from the Sinnoh region and beyond. Here are all of the Pokémon featured in the game’s August presentation as well as their included evolutions:

On top of the currently confirmed returning Pokémon, there are a few new introductions to Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ Hisui region. These include Wyrdeer, Basculegion, and a few regional variants of Pokémon such as Braviary and Growlithe. It’s likely that more Hisuian regional forms will be revealed as the release date approaches, as well. The new trailer showed players riding quite a few of the newly introduced Pokémon across the sea, land, and skies, paving the way for a wider number of ways to traverse the game’s open-world map.
