As mentioned in the last major developer update for World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, the beta will finally be made available this week. There are a few points to note to get the most out of the experience.

Opt-In Now

Everything You Need To Know For The Shadowlands Beta

Requesting access to the beta is as simple as clicking here and opting into the pool of players that are also eager to test out the new expansion. This will also provide players with news and updates about the ongoing development of the game, and any other pertinent information.

As with most popular game betas, opting in is merely a request for access and does not guarantee a spot. Once this has been done, it really is little more than a waiting game as some users might get access right away, and others might need to wait months. Beta testing usually begins with a somewhat small pool of players and gradually opens more spots to stress test servers and locate bugs in-game before formally launching the expansion.

Don’t Get Scammed!

The method listed above is the only way to access the beta, and there are no exceptions to that. If anyone is offering to sell or raffle a beta key for Shadowlands, this is little more than a scam. The only official confirmation and invitation to access the beta will come directly from Blizzard.

Addons Now Available For Testing In Shadowlands

Speaking of bugs, beta testing is all about seeing what still needs major improvement in development. With the latest version of the beta, addons can not be enabled for use. Be sure to test out all the major addons to see if there are any problems, such as with Deadly Boss Mods, Questie, Auctionator, and others.

Fall Release Date? Blizzard Sticks To Their Guns

While the pandemic has affected so many game developers in their ability to release content within their original target dates, Blizzard recently stated that the Fall season remains their target for a Shadowlands release. On the one hand, we certainly hope that the game will be in a proper state for a strong release, but on the other, Blizzard has also been known to release expansions to hit a date even if not fully baked. Warlords of Draenor was perhaps most guilty of this, and the eventually content that was cut from the final game left everyone a bit wary when it comes to rushing to reach a launch date.

Still, the upcoming beta testing will surely allow players to see the state of the upcoming expansion.
