After the hard restart that was Fallout 76: Wastelanders, it’s no surprise that Bethesda Game Studios is getting ambitious with Update 20. A recent announcement from the developer outlines that Update 20 that will include Legendary perks, Public Teams, and the new event, “A Colossal Problem,” along with the free season (The Legendary Run) and everything that comes with it.

Bethesda is also implementing a new experience meter to go along with the free season called S.C.O.R.E.

One can earn S.C.O.R.E. just as they do experience points by completing public events, shooting enemies, building a camp, or even through Nuclear Winter Daily Challenges. The experience system will allow players to level up quickly at the beginning but as time progresses it will take longer.

Bethesda has laid out all the possible rewards that come with ranking up in in Fallout 76’s season 1 – these range from ghillie suit armor mods to scrap kits and even some gold bullion and atoms along the way. Seasonal rewards will be limited to the season, however Bethesda has stated they are open to the idea of allowing the players to acquire them by other means.

In many ways the system resembles the battle pass model made popular by battle royale games, but Bethesda is being more generous with the free rewards.

Atoms will be cut short on how much one can acquire in a sitting, however they will be implemented into the Season Pass and could still be awarded from completing Lifetime Challenges. In addition, some Lifetime Challenges (Character, Combat, Social, Survival, and World) will award the player with new cosmetics, weapon skins, camp items, etc instead of atoms.

150 atoms can buy the player one season rank up. Fifteen-thousand atoms is all it takes to complete the season pass without working at all: that’s around $100.

Bethesda is open to the idea of Fallout 1st members getting special benefits in the future, but at the moment they want to see how Season 1 works out.

The Season Pass will be free on June 30th and will remain till mid-September.
