If you’re a fan of Fallout Shelter, you’ll be happy to know that a sequel is on the way, with (as the name Fallout Shelter Online probably already suggests, if we’re honest) online functionality and other advancements.

Now, many self-proclaimed hardcore gamers take quite a close-minded approach to mobile gamers. They’re casual, they’re lesser, they’re only good for five-minute bursts of Candy Crush or the like. Mobile games are there to perform this noble function if that’s all you use them for, but there’s also so much more to these smartphone and tablet titles.

As mobile titles have become bigger and bigger deals, some of the most significant franchises in gaming have taken to the small(er) screen. From Call of Duty Mobile to Mario Kart Tour, these big names have been lending an air of legitimacy to the whole concept. Sure, they have their issues, with unscrupulous microtransactions running rampant, but mobile gaming clearly isn’t something that can be casually dismissed so easily.

With Fallout Shelter Online, another major series continues to stake its claim on the mobile market. The original Fallout Shelter is a popular strategy title, a spin-off from the main series that sees players managing their own vault and its roster of dwellers. Gradually expanding your subterranean world while carefully managing dwindling resources is a lot of tense fun, all infused with the charm and dark humor of the main games. A follow-up, then? Don’t mind if we do.

According to Pocket Gamer, Fallout Shelter Online isn’t strictly a sequel, but “more an expanded version of the original game that launched in China back in 2017.” What’s different about this upcoming release? Well, it’s a mobile title, so you’d better believe that RNG-tastic gacha mechanics are included. Good luck managing to get yourself one of the icons of the series as darn rare vault dwellers.

Aside from that, online fights and an expanded campaign (in which you seek your Vault’s Overseer) will be featured. All in all, this is set to be a meatier all-around package that fans of the original are sure to lap up.

As for a release date, Fallout Shelter Online is currently slated to arrive on the Philippines’ App Store on April 22nd. There are no confirmed dates for Google Play or the App Store elsewhere just yet, but it seems that the wait won’t be very long.
