Modiphius’ miniature-based tabletop warfare game Fallout: Wasteland Warfare is expanding its arsenal. A new wave of mini figures focusing on the Institute is now available. Players can get their hands on Synths, scientists, and covert operatives to help further their campaign to rule the wasteland. Along with the figures comes a new terrain set that adds work benches to the available decorations. So now players will have a place to store their junk?

The Institute Wave consists of several different miniature releases. The Institute Core Box is the main attraction, giving buyers a nice spread of Synths and humans. Synths of course refers to a series of robots that were created to pass as humans. Later models were better at that, but all Synths still possess metal skeletons and “skin” that makes them tougher than humans. The Wasteland Warfare Synths are the first and second generation models.

There’s also an Institute Synths set which just gives you six Synth figures. The last set is the Institute Covert Operations. This includes three special characters that represent elite forces the Institute uses to kidnap or eliminate high-value targets. Among these figures is Conrad Kellogg, who Fallout fans will remember as the man who kidnaps the player character’s son in Fallout 4.

It’s worth noting that cards are needed to use these figures in an actual Fallout: Wasteland Warfare game. To get those cards, players will have to buy the Institute Wave Card Expansion Pack. The pack includes rules for all of the units that the Institute figures represent, as well as new gear that’s usable by previous sets’ characters.

The final batch of new content comes in the form of terrain expansions. A large set called the Wasteland colony gives players the pieces to build a small section of a Fallout town. Think the cobbled together, one and two story metallic settlements seen in the early parts of the video games.

The other set is more specific. It adds five work benches that can be placed in settlements. These include the usual work benches players use to craft weapons and items, as well as the frame one can hang their power armor on. They don’t seem to serve any particular gameplay purpose, but players could always choose to use them as objectives in a raid-based battle.

All of the products released in the Institute Wave are now available on the Modiphius website. There’s also a special Institute Bundle that includes all of the mini sets, the card set, and a bonus Mechanist figure. At $100, it’s a pricey set of minis. But if you’re into Fallout or tabletop war games, Fallout: Wasteland Warfare is a worthy investment.
