Seth McFarlane’s infamous creation Family Guy has continued to provide laughs since its debut in 1999. Even after 21 years, the showrunners are still coming up with new ways to make fans laugh along with the Griffins while trying not to get canceled for the third time.

Fans will each have their favorite characters on the show but it’s safe to say that every character has had their ups and downs over the 19 seasons. Lois Griffin has had many memorable moments such as becoming a model, returning from the dead after Stewie killed her, and starring in an adult film. Let’s take a look at five moments when fans were on Lois’s side and five when she got on fan’s nerves.

10 Felt Bad: When Peter Abandoned Her For Kimi

Not only does Peter not try to reassure Lois, he blatantly ignores her and even comes on to Kimi right in front of her. Lois, outraged, asks to go home before the island is taken over by intruders.

9 Hated Her: When Lois Was A Model

In season 4 episode 10, ‘Model Misbehavior,’ after missing the chance to become a model when she was younger, Lois decides to give it another shot and gets picked up by a talent scout in Rhode Island. It’s not long before the fame and attention go to her head, and she changes for the worst.

She distances herself from her family, takes up smoking, and she actually explains at the end of the episode that once Peter comes around and accepts it is what she wants to do, she doesn’t want to do it anymore? Was she just doing it purely to spite Peter and her father?

8 Felt Bad: When Peter Lost His Memory

In season 8 episode 10, ‘Big Man On Hippocampus,’ Peter loses his memory, and Lois tries to bring his memories back by trying to sleep with him. Peter believes he is free to sleep with whoever he likes, and this results in Lois feeling like their family has broken. She takes the kids and leaves and ends up almost sleeping with Quagmire!

Even in a cartoon, it is an emotional plotline to watch unfold when someone can’t remember their family and fans see it destroy Lois when Peter seemingly doesn’t care for them.

7 Hated Her: When Lois Cheated On Peter With Bill Clinton

In season 5 episode 13, ‘Bill & Peter’s Bogus Journey,’ Peter ends up spending time with Bill Clinton, who becomes a bad influence on him. Lois goes to Bill’s house to discuss Peter’s behavior but ends up sleeping with him.

There have been many instances where Lois has cheated on Peter, and fans can agree that Peter hasn’t exactly been a model husband for Lois, but she hits a new low when she cheats on Peter with his new best friend.

In season 9 episode, ‘And I’m Joyce Kinney’, Lois meets the local news anchor, Joyce, at a bar and who gets Lois to admit she made an adult film in high school called Quest For Fur. Joyce then runs it as a news story exposing Lois’s past to the whole town.

It is revealed later on that this was Joyce getting revenge for a prank Lois pulled on her in high school. No matter what prank someone plays on you, exposing their adult film is a new level of revenge that no one deserves.

5 Hated Her: When She Forgot The Words To KISS

In season 3 episode 20, ‘Road To Europe,’ Lois and Peter are at a KISS concert, and the band is singing “Rock and Roll All Nite.” When the band points the microphone at Lois to finish the line she says “…and have a wonderful…time?”.

Fair enough, it’s not real life, and it may have been a plot point for the episode, but not knowing the correct words to the end of that song is enough to drive any avid music fan livid.

4 Felt Bad: When Meg Had Enough

Family Guy 5 Times We Felt Bad For Lois (& 5 Times We Hated Her)

In season 10 episode 2, ‘Seahorse Seashell Party,’ Meg has had enough of the way everyone has treated her over the years and decides to tell everyone how she really feels about them.

When she gets to Lois, she calls her the farthest thing from the perfect mother and tells her she never wants to see her again when she turns 18. Even after being left out of the panic room for intruders to find, almost being drowned, being sold to slavery, being set on fire numerous times, and literally being wished out of existence by Peter, isn’t this a little too far Meg? Fans know that there’s only one response to this…shut up Meg.

In season 4 episode 13, ‘Jungle Love,’ Chris is nervous about going back to school as a freshman due to the “freshman hunt,” where all the other kids bully freshmen. Lois reassures Chris that all will be okay just before she opens the door, she shouts “FRESHMAN!”, leading to Chris getting bullied.

Most fans felt bad for Chris when he got bullied, given the height of his nerves, so this was a shocking act from his mother.

2 Felt Bad: When Lois Got Fat

To be clear, the pity is not for Lois gaining weight, but for the way Peter treated her as a result of her weight gain. In season 4 episode 22, ‘Sibling Rivalry,’ Lois gains weight after not sleeping with Peter for so long.

Throughout the episode, Peter calls Lois “Hog-Zilla” and embarrassed her in front of a restaurant full of people. What’s worse is Peter isn’t exactly a poster-boy for physical fitness himself.

1 Hated Her: When Lois Tripped Over

Family Guy has many long-running gags that reappear once in a blue moon, and some retain their laughs more than others. One of the most irritating jokes on the show was the over-exaggerated sighing when Peter fell over and hit his knee off the ground and continued to hold his knee for around 30 seconds, which seems longer when all fans can hear is “aaaaah…..aaaaaah…..”

Just when fans thought they had seen the last of the gag Lois trips over and hurts her knee in season 7 episode 10, ‘Run,’ bringing back those painful memories of the stretched out gag. Unfortunately, having an annoying repetitive groan is exactly what the producers were likely going for.
