For the most part, Dom Toretto’s crew at the center of The Fast Saga is a boys’ club. Dom and Brian and Roman and Tej and Hobbs all hang around the shop, oiling up their rippling muscles and revving the engines of their souped-up sports cars. But the Fast & Furious franchise has more than a few strong female characters to offer.

Some have been around since the beginning of the series, like Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty, while others arrived late to the party, like Helen Mirren’s Queenie. Still, all are equally entertaining additions, and they all hold their own alongside the men.

10 Officer Elena Neves

Fast & Furious 10 Best Female Characters

Officer Elena Neves worked alongside Luke Hobbs when he was introduced in Fast Five. She was selected as his partner because she’s the only cop in Rio de Janeiro who wasn’t susceptible to bribes from the local criminal population.

Neves has a surprisingly rich backstory. The reason she can’t be corrupted is that she’s in it for more than money: her cop husband’s death in the line of duty motivated her to join the force and fight crime.

9 Monica Fuentes

Fast & Furious 10 Best Female Characters

Since Vin Diesel is nowhere to be seen, 2 Fast 2 Furious is far from the fanbase’s favorite entry in the franchise. But Paul Walker and Tyrese Gibson share enough chemistry to carry the movie, and Eva Mendes’ Monica Fuentes stands out as a highlight.

Throughout the sequel, Fuentes works as an undercover agent trying to bring down Argentinean drug lord Carter Verone. She was also the one who revealed Letty to still be alive in the post-credits scene of Fast Five.

8 Agent Riley Hicks

Fast & Furious 10 Best Female Characters

Played by Gina Carano, Agent Riley Hicks was introduced as Luke Hobbs’ sidekick in Fast & Furious 6. She works with him at the DSS and the two are assigned to bring down Owen Shaw’s criminal enterprise.

However, the movie’s surprising twist reveals Hicks to be a double agent secretly working with Shaw. Neither Hobbs nor Toretto could see it coming.

7 Cipher

Fast & Furious 10 Best Female Characters

Charlize Theron’s Cipher emerged as arguably the Fast & Furious franchise’s most powerful villain to date in The Fate of the Furious, as she has the hacking abilities to turn every car in New York against her enemies (somehow) and even managed to manipulate Dom Toretto into turning his back on his family.

The only thing that let down the character in The Fate of the Furious was her dreadlocks, which was an odd stylistic choice. Thankfully, the dreads are gone in F9.

6 Gisele Yashar

Fast & Furious 10 Best Female Characters

Gisele Yashar was introduced as a liaison working for drug kingpin Arturo Braga, but she defected to Dom’s crew after he saved her life. Long before she played Wonder Woman in the DCEU, this is the character that made audiences around the world recognize Gal Gadot.

Although Gisele was initially characterized as a one-dimensional sex object, she became much more interesting and well-rounded after falling in love with Han and becoming a full-fledged member of the crew.

5 Ramsey

Fast & Furious 10 Best Female Characters

After getting her big break in Game of Thrones and making the jump to the big screen in the Maze Runner franchise, Nathalie Emmanuel joined the Fast & Furious series as Ramsey, the computer hacker who created the God’s Eye.

Ramsey proved to be so popular that her role in the franchise has been expanded beyond her connection to Furious 7’s MacGuffin. She’s appeared in every mainline F&F movie since.

4 Hattie Shaw

Fast & Furious 10 Best Female Characters

After the mainline Fast Saga introduced fans to Owen and Deckard Shaw and their mother Magdalene, Hobbs & Shaw expanded the Shaw clan even more with Vanessa Kirby’s debut as Owen and Deckard’s sister, Hattie.

Hattie is an MI6 agent who teams up with Hobbs and Shaw to take down Idris Elba’s superhuman villain Brixton Lore. Hopefully, we haven’t seen the last of her.

3 Mia Toretto

Fast & Furious 10 Best Female Characters

As the sister of one of The Fast Saga’s leads and the wife of the other one, Jordana Brewster’s Mia Toretto has been one of the most crucial members of the ensemble since the beginning.

After Paul Walker’s untimely passing necessitated Brian’s absence from future movies, the Mia character had to be sidelined. Thankfully, the producers have since figured out how to reintegrate her into the franchise and Brewster returned in F9.

2 Letty Ortiz

Fast & Furious 10 Best Female Characters

Fiercely loyal to Dom and an ass-kicking name-taker in her own right, Letty Ortiz has been a beloved member of the Fast & Furious series’ ensemble since the beginning. Michelle Rodriguez is responsible for some of the franchise’s greatest one-liner deliveries.

Around a decade ago, The Fast Saga started taking its characters’ deaths as seriously as superhero comics. Letty was killed off in the fourth movie, but came back from the dead in the sixth, paving the way for Han’s resurrection a few years later.

1 Magdalene Shaw

After the sixth Fast movie introduced audiences to Owen Shaw and the seventh one introduced them to his vengeful brother Deckard Shaw, the eighth movie introduced fans to the Shaw matriarch, Magdalene Shaw, also known as “Queenie.”

Queenie is played by Helen Mirren, one of the most respected actors in the world, who – in an extremely baller move – personally asked Vin Diesel for a role in The Fast Saga. Mirren has since reappeared in Hobbs & Shaw and F9, in which she finally got to drive on-screen. She brings the same hardened edge to Queenie that she brought to her gun-toting badass in the Red franchise.
