Ramuh was originally intended to appear in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, but he was cut during the game’s development. It’s not all bad news for the Lord of Levin, as he will be appearing as one of the new summons in the INTERmission DLC for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade.
Ramuh is part of the original generation of summons that appeared in Final Fantasy 3. He has made appearances in numerous Final Fantasy games since then, with his first 3D outing happening in the original FF7. The Ramuh summon Materia was originally found in the Chocobo racing waiting room in Final Fantasy 7’s Gold Saucer, and players could lose it forever if they didn’t grab it before finishing the race.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake included summons, even though they don’t appear until later in the story in FF7. There are six summons in the game, along with three that are pre-order bonuses and paid DLC. Ramuh was originally planned to appear in the base version of FF7 Remake, but he was cut for a surprising reason.
FF7 Remake Lost Ramuh To A Demo Reference
FF7 Remake co-director Naoki Hamaguchi explained in a post on the official PlayStation Blog that Ramuh was originally intended to appear in the game, but he was cut for Leviathan and Bahamut. It’s not surprising to see Bahamut appear in FF7 Remake, as he’s such an iconic part of the series. The reason Leviathan made it in was due to one of the demos for the original version of FF7.
There are two demos for FF7 on the PlayStation, which are referred to as the Aerith version and the Tifa version, as those characters appear alongside Cloud and Barret during the first reactor mission in their respective demos. The player has access to Leviathan in the Aerith demo, and Hamaguchi included it in FF7 Remake as a homage. Leviathan is also one of the most popular summons in the Final Fantasy series, which likely also contributed to its inclusion.
Hamaguchi expressed dismay at having to cut Ramuh from FF7 Remake. He said that Ramuh was definitely in the running for the next group of summons that will appear in the series. Fans assumed that he was referring to the unnamed sequel to FF7 Remake, but it turned out that Ramuh is appearing in the INTERmission DLC for Intergrade, and can be used by Yuffie during her chapters.
