Fight Crab has left early access on Steam and is fully released.

What you are witnessing is the pinnacle of gaming. Fight Crab puts you in control of a giant, violent crab that wants nothing more than dominance over all of crustacean kind.

After launching in Steam Early Access last year, Fight Crab has been slowly and iteratively improving itself, much like a crab as it molts through its shell every month or so. Now, it is finally casting off its final molt and revealing itself as the raw, powerful, and virile crab that it was always meant to be.

And it’s even on sale.

But let’s back up: in Fight Crab, the world of humans is gone. Instead, the world is dominated by giant immortal crabs that vie for dominance in true crab fashion: whoever gets flipped on their back loses the fight.

“He who turns his back to the ground shall know defeat,” as the ancient crab saying goes. You’ve probably heard it from that old lobster that lives down by the river. I know I have.

Fight Crab is the brainchild of solo Japanese developer Calappa Games, a person with “an undying love for crustaceans and has previously developed Neo Aquarium and Ace of Seafood.” Fight Crab represents their first fighting game in the budding crab subgenre, but it will surely not be the last.

There are 23 different species of crustacean, 48 different weapons, 11 stages, and several different game modes including 1v1, 2v2, 3-way free-for-all, and a campaign mode with training mode and 41 intense battles between you and ultimate crab victory.

And yes, I know lobsters and mantis shrimp aren’t technically crabs. Go play Them’s Fightin’ Herds if you want taxonomical accuracy.

Fight Crab is available now for a 10% discount on Steam. You can also get the soundtrack, which is pretty bangin’, also for 10% off. Or you can get them both as a bundle for 19% off.

And if you can wait, you can get the game on the Nintendo Switch in August. There’s even a physical release.
