During the Treasure Trove event, Blue Mages use their talents to exploit one particular Raid, The Binding Coils of Bahamut – Turn 2.
The Moon Flute is one of the several spells Blue Mages will need to efficiently farm The Binding Coils Raid in Final Fantasy 14. Using this spell grants its caster 15 seconds of increased attack damage and movement speed. The drawback is that, once the effect wanes, the user will become vulnerable for the next 15 seconds. To unlock this risk-reward spell for the Blue Mage job in Final Fantasy XIV, players must first gain access to the Masked Carnivale.
To unlock Moon Flute for the Blue Mage in Final Fantasy XIV, players need to complete 10 Stages of the Masked Carnivale. In this arena-like area, players can test their abilities against a variety of enemies. The Masked Carnivale only becomes accessible to players after they’ve reached Blue Mage Level 50. First, players must complete the quest, “The Real Folk Blues,” given by Maudlin Latool Ja in the Final Fantasy XIV city of Ul’dah – Steps of Thal at X: 12.5, Y: 13.0. Afterward, players can speak with the Celestium Attendant in Ul’dah – Steps of Thal at X:11.5, Y:13.2 to enter the Masked Carnivale.

In Stage 10 of the Masked Carnivale, “A Little Knight Music,” players face Crom Dubh, an armored foe who has a unique ability called “A King’s Will.” Crom Dubh can cast the skill up to three times during the fight, growing in size and strength each time. While skilled Blue Mages should be able to cut him down fairly quickly, those who want to earn “The Harder They Fall” Achievement must let Crom Dubh grow to his largest size before taking him down. Once victorious, players can obtain the Moon Flute spell from Wayward Gaheel Ja in Ul’dah – X:12.5, Y:12.9.
For newer players, becoming a Blue Mage in Final Fantasy XIV is possible after completing the main scenario quest, “The Ultimate Weapon.” They should speak to the Zealous Yellowjacket at Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks located at X:9.9, Y:11.0. They should keep in mind that the Blue Mage job unlocks new abilities from enemies, not from leveling.
