FACEIT and B Site have announced the second season of their competitive CS:GO league Flashpoint. The first season took place earlier this year, awarding $500,000 to its victor, MAD Lions. The second season will begin in November, taking place online through December. The event boasts a $1 million prize pool, matching that of the first season.

Flashpoint season 2 will see twelve of CS:GO’s best teams compete for a $500,000 grand prize. Seven of the league’s participating teams are partnered members, taking part in the league’s revenue share model. Each of the partnered teams competed in Flashpoint season 1, though former founding team FunPlus Phoenix will not be returning for season 2 after pulling out of CS:GO for the time being.

The seven founding teams include Cloud9, who are currently undergoing a complete CS:GO overhaul, C0ntact Gaming, Team Envy, Dignitas, Gen.G, MIBR, and reigning Flashpoint champions MAD Lions. Three of the remaining five competing teams will be invited to participate in the league, while the final two will earn their spots through qualifiers.

Flashpoint season 2 is set to begin on November 9th, with competition taking place completely online due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The league’s inaugural season was also stalled due to the pandemic, as all matches were meant to take place on LAN. The league transitioned to online play partway through the season.

For season 2, Flashpoint’s on-air talent will broadcast live from a studio in London. As hosting a competition online brings its own unique challenges, this season of Flashpoint will be “limited to teams who are able to quarantine in Europe,” says B Site. North American teams like Gen.G will likely be required to stay in Europe throughout the event. Brazilian side MIBR have been competing in Europe since August.

The format for Flashpoint season 2 has not been revealed, though it will likely follow a similar format to that used in season 1. The previous season split the teams into three groups of four, with each group going through a double-elimination bracket. The tournament went through two group stage phases, with the top eight teams moving on to the play-off stage. Every match was a best-of-three.

Flashpoint season 2 will begin on November 9th and run until December 6th.
