NBC’s Friends is arguably one of the most popular and influential TV shows of all time. Following a group of 20-somethings making their way through life in New York City (a concept many people claim How I Met Your Mother copied), the show is known for its funny jokes and hilarious characters.

While the show is all about the sweet and heartwarming friendship between the 6 friends, there are some times when the gang treated each other horribly. Here are 10 of the worst things the gang did to each other.

10 Chandler Fell Asleep During Joey’s Movie Premiere

Chandler is Joey’s best friend and has always looked out for him and supported him in his acting career, whether it is accompanying him to auditions or paying for his acting classes and his headshots.

So, in “The One Where Rachel is Late”, Joey shows his gratitude by taking Chandler to the premiere of his new movie. However, Chandler falls asleep during the movie, which upsets Joey. Not only that, but Chandler also lies about it.

9 Monica Gambled Her and Rachel’s Apartment

Monica has been known to get extremely competitive, much to the Gangs’ annoyance, and so when she, Rachel, Chandler, and Joey are playing a game to determine who knows each other the best, Chandler dares her to bet the Apartment.

Although Rachel is skeptical about it, Monica convinces her it’s the right choice. However, they end up losing the Apartment, and Joey and Chandler move in shortly after, with Monica and Chandler forced to move into the guys’ apartment.

8 Phoebe Got Mad at Joey For Learning Guitar

In the season 5 episode, “The One With All The Resolutions”, Joey vows to learn the guitar, and Phoebe, who has a soft spot for Joey, offers to teach him. However, her method of teaching is quite ridiculous.

Phoebe won’t even let him touch a guitar or let him learn the right names of chords. Later, when Joey secretly goes behind Phoebe’s back and hires a teacher to teach him how to properly play the guitar, Phoebe gets mad at him.

7 Rachel Lost Monica’s Earrings

Rachel has always been reckless and irresponsible, ever since season 1, and although she did manage to change a little in the later seasons, she treats peoples’ belongings terribly.

In the season 5 episode, “The One Where Ross Can’t Flirt”, Chandler asks Monica to wear the earrings he gifted her, but Monica has lent them to Phoebe, who in turn lent them to Rachel, who has lost them.

6 Ross Lied About Getting the Annulment

Ross and Rachel’s relationship has been one of the strangest relationships in the show, and the weirdness reached its peak in the season 5 finale when they get drunk and get married in Las Vegas.

However, when Rachel wants to get annulled, Ross lies to her and says he’ll “take care of it” and they remain married for several months, without Rachel even knowing. It’s only much later does she find out and is understandably furious.

5 Rachel Gets Jealous of Ross’s Girlfriends

Another weird aspect of Ross and Rachel’s relationship is one was in love with the other when the other (or both) were in relationships with someone else. Rachel only seemed to like Ross when he was with another woman.

First, she got jealous when Ross was with Julie in season 2, and then in season 5, she planned to stop Ross from getting married with Emily by flying all the way to London. She got jealous and spiteful of almost every woman Ross was dating.

4 Monica Cut Off Chandler’s Toe

In the flashback episode, “The One With All The Thanksgivings”, the gang is reminiscing about previous Thanksgivings and recounting their worst Thanksgivings ever.

Rachel reveals Monica’s worst Thanksgiving – while trying to get back at Chandler for calling her fat the previous year, she tries to seduce him but ends up severing his toe when she accidentally drops a knife on his foot.

3 Ross Forced Evolution on Phoebe

In “The One Where Heckles Dies”, Phoebe reveals that she “doesn’t believe in evolution”, and the scientist in Ross gets furious. He apparently takes this as an insult and a challenge, as he spends the rest of the episode trying to bully Phoebe into admitting evolution is real.

Phoebe, however, brilliantly manages to get Ross to admit that evolution might be one of the possible explanations and that there may be another explanation, and Ross starts to question his reality.

2 Joey and Chandler Lose Baby Ben on the Bus

After Monica accidentally feeds Ross some kiwi, which he is deathly allergic to, Ross asks Chandler and Joey to look after Ben, and they use him out to try and pick up chicks.

After getting off the bus with some women, they realize they left Ben, and end up losing track of the bus. Pretty irresponsible, and not to mention creepy, behavior from both of them.

1 Phoebe Guilts Rachel for Buying From Pottery Barn

Phoebe is… weird, to say the least. She hates Pottery Barn’s mass-produced furniture since she believes every product should have a story behind it. So when she finds out Rachel bought an apothecary table from Pottery Barn, she gets angry with her.

However, later, she sees a lamp in a Pottery Barn store and instantly wants to buy it. Phoebe often comes off as a hypocrite who only seems to follow her morals as long as it suits her, such as when she wears mink despite claiming to be against wearing fur, just because it “looks great on her”.
