10 The One With the Ick Factor (8.3)

The twentieth episode of the first season saw one of the oddest storylines involving Monica. When she confesses to the guy she’s been dating that she’s older than he thinks, he confesses he is younger…a lot younger because he’s actually a high school student. Yes, talk about an ick!

Meantime, Rachel has a dream about her and Chandler getting frisky, which prompts Ross into a jealous rage. Additionally, when Phoebe serves as Chandler’s secretary for a while, he finds out none of his co-workers actually like him.

9 The One With the Candy Hearts (8.3)

Valentine’s Day was destined to be a hilarious set up for a Friends episode, something which “The One With the Candy Hearts” came to prove. Ross and his date find themselves at the same restaurant as Susan and Carol, while Joey accidentally sends Chandler on a date with the infamous Janice.

The girls end up having the most interesting night where they decide it’s a good idea to burn all of the things that their ex-boyfriends gave them and end up starting a fire.

This was the one where fans all over the world were introduced to the six characters they would go on to become so invested in, and as far as pilots go, this one is probably one of the best executed out there.

7 The One With Two Parts: Part Two (8.5)

When Rachel has to go to the hospital and is in dire need of insurance, she switches identities with Monica, prompting them to meet a very cute doctor and risk being caught in the midst of committing insurance fraud.

Joey misses Phoebe’s birthday because he was spending time with her twin sister Ursula, which leads to an even bigger strain on their friendship.

6 The One with the East German Laundry Detergent (8.5)

Everyone seems to be involved in a weird situation during “The One With the East German Laundry Detergent”. Rachel has to once again prove she can handle real life when it’s time to do laundry and stand up to a rude New Yorker. Ross, in order to spend time with her, pretends he needs to do laundry outside of his apartment as well.

In the meantime, Chandler is struggling to break up with Janice, and Monica agrees to be Joey’s date when he proposes his ex they go on a double-date together.

5 The One With the Boobies (8.7)

Phoebe is dating a shrink named Roger that she really likes, but when he starts analyzing the group and hitting them where it hurts, things get a little ugly.

After Chandler accidentally caught a glimpse of Rachel’s breasts, she’s very interested in getting even. And in the meantime, Joey finds out that his father has a mistress, which breaks his heart due to his love for his mother.

4 The One With the Birth (8.7)

The moment everyone had been waiting for all season finally arrives in this episode – Ross’s child is born! But before that, a few things occur that make the whole thing hilarious.

This includes Rachel flirting with a doctor that might not be super keen in getting intimate, Ross and Susan argue because of the baby, and Joey finds himself in an interesting position when he helps out a soon to be single mom.

3 The One With All the Poker (8.8)

Rachel might be looking at her dream job as an assistant buyer, and everyone’s excited for her. While she’s waiting for the call, the girls convince the guys to let them play poker with them – and lose big.

Being a competitive woman, Monica gets a few lessons from her aunt and they take on the boys again. This time around, only Rachel and Ross are left. What will he do after Rachel’s job doesn’t materialize?

2 The One Where Rachel Finds Out (8.9)

After an entire season of pinning over Rachel, Ross is ready to embark on a plane to China for work. However, Rachel ends up finding out about his feelings for her.

Emotional over the fact that he put so much thought into his birthday gift for her, Rachel decides to give him and chance and picks him up at the airport…of course, the season ends in an interesting cliffhanger!

1 The One With The Blackout (9.0)

This particular episode took place early in the season, but it’s definitely the best. When there’s a city-wide blackout in New York, most of the gang try to stay entertained at Monica’s apartment.

However, the most hilarious bit is, without a doubt, Chandler’s. He finds himself stuck at an ATM with a Victoria’s Secret model and tries at all costs to impress her – or at least, not seem super weird.
