Samsung’s Galaxy S21 FE has seen numerous leaks, enough that the company really should be embarrassed, and yet even more details have come to light recently, leaving little to the imagination. The ‘FE’ designation stands for ‘fan edition’ and it seems there will be quite a bit for Samsung enthusiasts to admire with this new phone if the latest information is true, however, pricing remains a bit unclear with contradictory rumors arising.
Samsung’s Galaxy S21 series brought big performance gains over the previous generation, powered by Qualcomm’s fastest chip, the Snapdragon 888. The already bright screen of the Galaxy S20 Ultra increased further with the S21 Ultra and an extra telephoto camera was added with ten times optical zoom. The latest and best Wi-Fi 6E was added as well. While those are significant changes, what is most apparent about the 2021 model is its beauty. Rather than a large black bump, Samsung’s Galaxy S21 merged the camera array into the design, so that it adds interest rather than detracts.
Fans of Samsung’s Galaxy S21 design and performance will love the upcoming Galaxy S21 FE based upon the recent leaks. Images of the phone reveal the stunning camera array design of the S21 line is recreated in the fan edition. Supposedly boasting the same Snapdragon 888 processor as Samsung’s flagship that allows advanced gaming, the S21 FE will be a beast in performance. As with last year’s Galaxy S20 FE, the new model is expected to have less impressive cameras than its higher-priced siblings, with 12-megapixel ultra-wide and wide lenses, while the telephoto is only 8 megapixels. This is one of the few concessions Samsung might have made to lower cost. According to WinFuture, the build quality will be improved over the previous generation with Gorilla Glass Victus protecting the screen.
Galaxy S21 FE Pricing & Specifications
Pricing estimates for Samsung Galaxy S21 FE vary considerably. While earlier leaks and rumors suggested a price of $699, which is the same as last year’s fan edition phone, the new information from WinFuture gives an estimate of 750 Euros, which is about $850 in U.S. dollars. That would be a bit of a surprise if true since the Galaxy S21 retails at $800 and comes with an aluminum back and better cameras. $700 to $750 seems more likely and the truth should be known soon since the Galaxy S21 FE is expected to launch in January. Leaked images show five color options: purple, green, black, white, and silver.
Storage and screen specifications for the upcoming fan edition are said to be about on par with the Galaxy S20 FE, featuring a large 6.4-inch OLED display with a 120-hertz refresh rate. The storage options should include 128 and 256 gigabytes, however, the leak suggests no microSD card slot will be present, which was available on the Galaxy S20 FE. Battery capacity is predicted to be 4500 milliamp-hours, as before. Samsung’s Galaxy S21 FE matches and exceeds the S20 FE, gaining Corning’s best, Gorilla Glass Victus, for added crack resistance as well as a faster processor.
