Leisure Suit Larry will shimmy his way back into your Steam library with a second surprise game announcement.
Leisure Suit Larry made a bizarre comeback in 2018 thanks to developer Crazybunch with Leisure Suit Larry – Wet Dreams Don’t Dry. The game saw ’80s point-and-click adventure star Larry Laffer accidentally wander into a time machine that brings him to today. He gets a phone, a dating app, and then stumbles into an adventure to determine the true secrets behind a tech corporation’s success.
And then it got ported to the Nintendo Switch. Because apparently Nintendo is okay with sex puns in their games these days.
We gave the game a 3.5 out of 5 in our review, noting that while the story was fine and the writing was great, the puzzles were sometimes a little obtuse. Which is technically the same as they were back in the ’80s and ’90s with the classic Leisure Suit Larry series, so that’s really just being authentic to the franchise.
Some found the ending of Wet Dreams Don’t Dry to be a little anticlimactic, so in November 2019, Crazybunch came out with the Happy Ending Edition which sought to explain what happened to Larry and Faith at the end of the game. Turns out they got engaged, but unforeseen circumstances have once again ripped Faith and Larry apart in the sequel, Wet Dreams Dry Twice.
No, we didn’t ask for more Leisure Suit Larry, but it’s 2020, and frankly, it couldn’t possibly get any worse.
In Wet Dreams Dry Twice, Larry finds himself on an island vacation in the beautiful Kalau’a archipelago. He’s trying to track down Faith, but he’ll have to wander his way across 50 locations, meet tons of new characters (including a few ladies, of course), and collect a bunch of weird and esoteric stuff that will somehow become relevant later in the story in order to solve an equally incoherent puzzle. Which will then be followed up by some sort of sex joke.
Leisure Suit Larry – Wet Dreams Dry Twice arrives on PC via Steam and GOG on October 15, 2020. Expect a Switch port to come soon after. Probably.
