505 Games has announced that their critically-acclaimed first-person cyberpunk parkour action game, Ghostrunner, is now available on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The game will be available on next-gen consoles in both physical and digital formats. Plus, those who already own the game on Xbox One or PlayStation 4 can upgrade to the next-gen version for free.
Published by 505 Games along with developers and partners All in! Games, One More Level, 3D Realms, and Slipgate Ironworks, this upgraded version of Ghostrunner is enhanced by post-processing HDR and a ray-tracing fidelity mode. Players can now scale buildings at lightning-quick speed through parkour skills that are rendered in 4K/120fps. The newly added 3D spatial audio is the perfect companion to the pulse-pounding soundtrack by Daniel Deluxe that makes each swing of the blade and death-defying jump sound all the more satisfying. Plus, the PlayStation 5’s haptic feedback makes you feel each thump and swing.
The original Ghostrunner launched in October of last year and was praised for its unique look and style. Dubbed a “hardcore FPS slasher,” the stylistic cyberpunk game arms players with a katana as they parkour their way through a futuristic dystopia to restore humanity to its former glory. With a blend of elements from other much-loved games like Mirror’s Edge, Hotline Miami, and Mark of the Ninja, this indie title became a hit amongst players and one that we felt any fan of first-person games would be wise to try.
The new PS5 and Series X|S versions of the game include all of the game modes that were released last year by One More Level. Players can battle against time in the Kill Run Mode, or they can snap a photo that captures Jack’s deadly agility in the Photo Mode. If you’re feeling especially confident, then the roguelike-inspired Wave Mode is the perfect option to test those jumping and slashing skills. Of course, there is also the Assist Mode for those who want to take things slow with an additional life, slow down options to help with reaction times, and shortened cooldowns to use abilities more often.
Also available on the PS5 and Series X|S is “Jack’s Bundle.” This collection includes all of the cosmetics that launched in Ghostrunner including the recently-released Neon Pack and the earlier-released Winter and Metal Ox Packs.
Ghostrunner is available today for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in both physical and digital formats for $29.99. It is also available on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Amazon Luna, and PC.
