A list of new achievements for the classic GoldenEye 007 shooter has been picked up by TrueAcheivements, an achievements tracking site. According to the site, a number of them were picked up from Xbox Live servers.

The list contains 55 achievements, including a secret one, making up a total Gamerscore of 1,000. The list includes achievements for completing various levels on any difficulty, a number of time based tasks, and challenges in the multiplayer. They are also different from the ones revealed via the leak of the cancelled XBLA GoldenEye 007 remake.

Interestingly, 2022 marks the 25th anniversary of the game, which launched on the Nintendo 64 in 1997. If there were a remake, remaster, or new port in the works, it would make the most sense to put it out this year.

A quick scroll through Reddit shows that the most prevalent theory right now is that GoldenEye 007 will come to Game Pass at some point. Some Redditors have pointed out that the inclusion of Banjo-Kazooie to Game Pass has set a precedent for more of Rare’s games being added to the subscription service. However, while this list has been uncovered, there has been nothing else to prove that a new release is on the way, so fans may not want to get their hopes up just yet.

GoldenEye 007 can finally be sold officially in Germany, 24 years after launch. The authorities removed the game from its list of “Media Harmful to Young Persons”. Curiously, this change of heart occured after a push by Nintendo for the game to be reclassified. We can never assume to know why Nintendo does the things it does, but suddenly pushing for the reclassification of the 24 year old game lines up with the theories of a rumoured re-release.

However, if you’re really itching for a remake of GoldenEye 007, you can try playing it in Far Cry 5. One dedicated fan has recreated all 18 levels in Ubisoft’s open-world shooter. The levels were unavailable for a while – as Ubisoft had removed them thanks to a copyright claim by MGM – however, they’re back now with a few tweaks.
