Team Rocket has been causing double trouble for Ash and company since the earliest days of the Pokemon anime. As the years have passed, Jessie, James, and Meowth have evolved past the bumbling criminals they used to be to become more decent challengers and, at times, helpful allies. One constant trait for the trio has been Jessie’s everlasting passion for fashion, which simply makes her perfect for any aspiring cosplayers.

Jessie is for all intents and purposes the leader of the Team Rocket trio, and her commanding personality has always depicted her as the woman in charge, even though both James and Meowth equally contribute to the pair’s outrageous and at times ridiculous plans to snatch other people’s Pokemon. Despite the extreme makeover they went through in the days of Pokemon Black and White, both aesthetically and in their work efficiency, they went back to their basic tropes in recent years, continuing to be the anime’s biggest comic relief.

For German cosplayer Liechee, Jessie’s classic look is the foundation of her outfit, which is practically only missing an Arbok or Wobbuffet to be the live-action Jessie one could hope to see in the future Pokemon: Detective Pikachu sequel. Though she doesn’t skimp on the details, Liechee does take some creative license in her cosplay by doing away with Jessie’s stiff hairstyle and instead shifts it to something less comical, but definitely way more realistic for a look that’s not out of this world, maybe just a bit fashion-forward.

Liechee’s costume creation process is fairly detailed on a YouTube video uploaded to her own channel, in which she describes herself as a huge Pokemon fan, something she backs up with similar cosplay recreating characters like Officer Jenny. Her cosplay portfolio is pretty wide-ranged, also covering the likes of Supergirl, Sailor Mars, or even some great renditions of vintage Wonder Woman and Scarlet Witch.

However, since Pokemon is as popular as it’s been in a few years thanks to the huge surge in card collecting and booming prices, alongside the franchise’s 25th-anniversary celebrations and continuous support for Pokemon Go, it’s as good of a time as any to remember some of the series’ most memorable characters. With New Pokemon Snap off to such a great start, sometimes it feels like it’s 1999 all over again.

Fans still have plenty to look forward to with upcoming re-releases in the form of the intriguing Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, as well as the even more exciting Pokemon Legends: Arceus, which finally promises to take the franchise to the next level. Especially if the rumored Switch Pro launches right before it.
