Gravity Falls was a beloved animated show that viewers of every age enjoyed. The show followed Dipper and Mabel Pines living with their Great Uncle Stan during their summer break in the increasingly weird and strange town of Gravity Falls.

Fans love Gravity Falls and have come up with many fan theories throughout the years to show their appreciation and love for the characters and their stories on the show. The memorable characters throughout the show also have a wide range of varying intelligence levels.

10 Waddles

Waddles is Mabel’s best friend and pet pig who is hilariously and adorably a main character on the series. Waddles does seem to understand the characters on the show, particularly Mabel, but he does typical pig things throughout his day. There is one episode of the series where Waddles becomes extremely intelligent and is voiced by Neil deGrasse Tyson, but he decides to go back to his carefree existence as Mabel’s best friend by the end of the episode.

9 Soos

Soos (voiced by creator Alex Hirsch) works for Grunkle Stan at the Mystery Shack and is a dedicated and loyal employee. The Pines family loves him and his naïve and blissfully unaware nature.

Soos is an optimistic character who never fully realizes how terrible a situation is even though he is frequently caught up with Dipper and Mabel against dangerous supernatural beings. Soos laughs off any type of danger and is usually more concerned about what kind of snacks there will be.

8 Pacifica Northwest

Pacifica Northwest is Gravity Falls’ local heiress as her family is incredibly wealthy and one of her ancestors’ supposedly founded the town. Pacifica relies more on her money and influence than her actual intelligence. She and Mabel begin a feud early on in the series when they compete against each other in a dance competition and Mabel doesn’t back down in fear of retribution from the powerful Pacifica.

7 Li’l Gideon

Li’l Gideon is a local kid who claims to have psychic abilities, but really he is being aided by supernatural forces that he found in one of Ford’s journals. Gideon wants to be an evil mastermind so badly, and he almost gets there, but all of his plans never come to fruition. Gideon tends to let his anger and revenge plots control him instead of actually showing calm and rational intelligence.

6 Wendy Corduroy

Wendy (voiced by Linda Cardellini) is a savvy character who is cool, calm, and collected throughout the series. She’s definitely a smart character who takes the weird supernatural occurrences in stride, but she’s never fully let in on the secrets that Dipper and the Pines family know so she can’t truly show her full range of intelligence about Gravity Falls, until the finale when Bill Cipher finally makes his reality come true.

5 Mabel Pines

Mabel Pines (voiced by Kristen Schaal) is a creative and optimistic character who is completely unique. Mabel isn’t as interested in figuring out the mysteries of Gravity Falls, as her brother Dipper is, and she is more concerned with normal twelve-year-old teen issues like who is going to be her boyfriend for the summer. Although Mabel doesn’t typically want to help Dipper, she is always there to save her brother when he needs her.

4 Grunkle Stan

Grunkle Stan (also voiced by creator Alex Hirsch) takes in Mabel and Dipper for the summer and is a savvy con man throughout the series. He runs the Mystery Shack by setting up fake exhibits and usually yelling at people in an effort to get them to buy stuff from the gift shop. From the pilot episode, it’s shown that Stan is up to something and it’s not revealed until much later in the series. Grunkle Stan would be ranked lower on this list if he hadn’t been working with his brother’s technology to try to bring him back.

3 Dipper Pines

Dipper (voiced by Jason Ritter) thinks his summer is going to be terribly boring until he finds a journal that documents strange supernatural occurrences in the town of Gravity Falls. Dipper tries his best to figure out all of the secrets of the town with help from the journals he finds. He gets close to figuring out some of the secrets, but a lot of Dipper’s decisions lead to dangerous consequences for him and those he loves.

2 Bill Cipher

Bill Cipher’s (again voiced by creator Alex Hirsch) presence in the series fills the story with ominous and dangerous vibes amongst all the mysteries and cryptograms. Bill’s an evil mastermind who is bent on creating chaos in the world.

Bill needs to manipulate someone to let him out of his dimensional prison and allow him to wreak havoc on the world. He comes close multiple times to reaching his goal and eventually does win, and the results are terrifying.

1 Ford Pines

Ford Pines (voiced by J.K. Simmons) doesn’t appear until later in the series, but he is obviously one of the most intelligent characters on the show. Dipper has been trying to interpret and find the author of the mysterious journals that document the weird supernatural happenings of Gravity Falls, and it’s his Grunkle Ford. Although Bill Cipher has bested him a few times, it’s clear that overall Ford is the smarter character through his quick reasoning and immense scientific knowledge.
