Online Tournament 6 of the Apex Legends Global Series just wrapped up, with Europe’s GnaskeStrafeDel (GSD) and North America’s NRG coming out on top of the competition. ALGS is now moving towards its Summer Circuit, as this event marked the last of the Online Tournament series.

Luckily, I was able to chat with GSD’s Wraith player, SirDel, about their recent victory. “Coming into this tournament we were actually lacking confidence. We went through a bit of a slump and didn’t make it to the finals of Esports Arena #5 – so we were unsure of how that would translate over to ALGS.” However, GSD found their footing quickly, picking up momentum throughout each stage of the tournament. “Group 1 went smoothly; many of our opponents weren’t as experienced as us. Group 2 was tougher, but because we farmed kills, it gave us a big confidence boost. Group 3 (semi-finals) was the best Apex I think we’ve ever played together.”

GSD has enjoyed incredible consistency in ALGS, appearing in the finals of all 6 Online Tournaments (5 with their current roster) – yet this is the first time the European team finished on top. SirDel detailed the moment they felt like they were finally taking home the win. “After we won game 4 of the finals, I could tell the team was feeling super confident. We didn’t want it to ruin how we were playing, so we decided to hold our composure through the last game. In the past, we’ve panicked – but this time we fixed those problems.”

In North America, on the other hand, NRG managed to take home first prize with a fresh new roster addition. Many knew the team for its old members Aceu, Mohr, and Dizzy – but Frexs, Nafen, and Rocker just proved that they are more than capable as successors. TSM has always been the heavy favorite in the North American scene, but after a disappointing game 5, NRG was able to emerge in 1st place.

Congratulations to both teams on their fantastic performances! Undoubtedly, we’ll see them again in the upcoming Summer Circuit starting in a few short weeks.
