Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition launched last week and almost feels as if it’s the only thing anyone has been talking about. Not for the reasons Rockstar would have been hoping mind you. The collection is riddled with issues, one of which resulted in it being completely removed from the Rockstar Launcher hours after it became available. It remained unplayable on PC for most of the weekend.

Most of the glitches being discovered are a result of Rockstar seemingly not thinking things through when remastering the games. The heavy rain problem, for example. However, a glitch that causes cars to grow in GTA 3 has also made the jump to the remaster. That bizarre and hilarious problem cannot be blamed on the remaster since it was also a problem in the original.

The glitch was first noticed in the remaster by stack413 who shared the discovery on Reddit. As you can see in the clip below, wiggling your car from left to right over and over again results in it slowly growing. It’s not evident at first, but after a short while the car is almost two lanes wide. You might be wondering how such a glitch could happen in the first place, and the phenomenon has been explained via the comments on the post below.

The car is designed to distort a little when it turns a corner so that it actually looks like the entire vehicle is turning. When the car straightens up again, the distortion is supposed to reset, but clearly, it does not. Instead, the distortion remains and then is added to when you turn again, and then again. If you do it over and over like in the video above, the car gets pretty wide, and very distorted, incredibly quickly.

The issue is known as the ghost car glitch and it only works with the car in the clip above and a few others. That might be why you have never experienced it even after playing the original version of GTA 3 as you may have never wiggled your way around Liberty City in the right car. Although it’s yet another issue Rockstar needs to fix, at least this one will just make you laugh rather than yell into the void filled with nothing but the heaviest rain in video game history.
