GTA 3 Vice City And San Andreas Have Already Been Removed From Digital Storefronts Following Remaster Announcement

The three GTA games included in the now official remastered trilogy have already been removed from digital storefronts to prepare for its arrival.

After months of rumors, Rockstar finally caved last week and revealed remastered versions of GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas are being bundled together and sold as part of a new collection. Or it always intended on officially announcing that news in October. There are rumors that the digital version of the collection will be here by November after all. If those reports are true, Rockstar couldn’t have really sat on the news for much longer.

Unlike some games that get the remaster treatment, the three GTA games that will be a part of The Definitive Edition have not been hard to find. The original versions of all three games, including all of them bundled together, have been available through most digital storefronts for years. Don’t go looking for them now though as the three games have already been swiftly removed.

An update to the support section of Rockstar’s site now reveals that GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas have been removed from digital storefronts on consoles and PC as of today. Interestingly, the games still seem to be available on Steam. The support page only mentions the Rockstar Launcher in its new update when it comes to playing the games on PC. At the time of typing this, the original trilogy can still be bought through Steam for £16.99.

If you want to buy the game for that price then you might want to act now. There’s no telling how long it will be available, and early indicators suggest the remastered version is going to cost a lot more. Perhaps as much as £70 on next-gen consoles, and £10 cheaper on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Speaking of which, there is also a new report suggesting a physical version of the game will be available on last-gen consoles in time for the holidays.

That will obviously be quite the price hike if it turns out to be true. Whether the collection will be worth it ultimately depends on how improved the three games are. Players might not get to judge that for themselves to the utmost extent until after they have actually paid for it. Whether it has come on leaps and bounds or not, judging by the continued success of GTA 5, and the nostalgia for past games in the series, the trilogy is going to make big money.
