Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas includes a few different romance options for the main character, CJ. There are six women that CJ can start relationships with, but there are certain requirements for unlocking and romancing them. Players will need to progress in the story and unlock new areas to open up every possible romance option in GTA: San Andreas.
To build a relationship with one of the available romantic interests, CJ will need to take the girl out on several successful dates. He will also need to continue taking her on dates periodically to maintain the relationship. There are three types of dates available: driving around, going to dinner, or dancing at a nightclub. Each type of date also has indicators for how it’s going. For example, CJ’s girlfriend will show her displeasure if he takes her to a restaurant she doesn’t like or doesn’t score high enough while dancing.
GTA: San Andreas’ romance options are available at different points in the game, and two of them are actually part of the main story missions. CJ can also date more than one girl at a time, potentially leading to a jealous girlfriend encounter following a successful date. Each girlfriend has perks or rewards that CJ can get for dating them.
Every Girlfriend in GTA: San Andreas
CJ can date six women that each have different needs, likes, and dislikes. The girlfriends in GTA: San Andreas need to be treated well for relationships to form and be maintained. If CJ abandons, hurts, or scares his girlfriend while on a date, it will have a negative effect on the relationship. The following women are available to date throughout GTA: San Andreas’ story:
- Denise Robinson: Denise is romanced during the “Burning Desire” story mission and can be taken on dates after that. Her love for drive-bys makes her no stranger to violence, and she is the only girlfriend who will not care about CJ’s wanted level. After making Denise CJ’s girlfriend, players will be rewarded with her Hustler vehicle at half progress and a pimp suit.
- Millie Perkins: During “Key to Her Heart,” players will encounter Millie, who prefers a boyfriend with high physical fitness. Her rewards can all be obtained without making her CJ’s girlfriend, but she will give him the keys to her car, a croupier uniform, and a casino card that can be used during a heist.
- Barbara Schternvart: Barbara is inside the El Quebrados police station and prefers CJ to be heavyset. Having her as a girlfriend will give players the ability to retain their weapons after being arrested, and she gives CJ a rural police Ranger car at half progress. Barbara will also give CJ a police uniform, which allows him to access impounds without becoming wanted.
- Helena Wankstein: Found at the Ammu-Nation store in Blueberry, Helena will let CJ have complete access to the cars on her farm after Flint County is unlocked. She prefers a muscular appearance, and players will receive weapons and rural clothes while dating her.
- Michelle Cannes: Michelle is at the Doherty driving school and likes CJ to be physically fit. She will grant CJ access to a free version of a Pay ‘n’ Spray garage and her customized Monster vehicle at half progress. Players will also receive a racer’s tracksuit from her.
- Katie Zhan: Katie is located near San Fierro Gym on the golf course and prefers a muscular CJ. She will give players the ability to keep their weapons after dying and her white Romero car at half progress. CJ also receives a medic uniform while dating her.
In GTA: San Andreas, players will encounter Catalina and pursue a brief romance with her while completing story missions. However, the relationship is short-lived, and players are unable to romance her outside of the main storyline. All girlfriends except for Denise will abandon a date if players have more than a two-star wanted level.
