A Halo Infinite developer has confirmed that the super punch glitch has been fixed internally, but won’t be patched during either of the technical previews.

Just yesterday we reported that Halo Infinite was seeing the rise of a “super punch” glitch that had players able to melee attack incredibly quickly and take enemies out in a manner of seconds. Some speculated that it was a purposeful callback to BXB combos from Halo 2 onwards, but many assumed it was just a glitch that would quickly be taken out by 343.

Well, anyone who guessed that the windmill punch was just a glitch and not a purposeful hint at melee supremacy in Infinite rejoice. As reported by Pure Xbox, Brian Jarrard, community director at 343, has taken to Twitter to confirm that the super punching has already been removed from Halo Infinite’s internal build.

Replying to one of the many BXB combo videos on Twitter, Jarrard simply said, “Can confirm this issue has already been resolved in internal builds”. Jarrard would later reply to another video of the same glitch to confirm that the glitch may remain for the rest of the technical preview, saying, “already fixed internally, unlikely to be patched for the preview”.

From these responses, it seems likely that the BXB combo will remain for the rest of Halo Infinite’s technical preview. It’s interesting to note that this glitch wasn’t present in the first technical preview, and seems to have been accidentally added for the second. We haven’t heard anything official about the reasoning behind the glitch just yet, but 343 has been very open about Infinite’s development progress and issues in the past, so it’ll likely comment on it during the next Halo Waypoint blog post.

Although the fact that such a big glitch is being patched out of Halo Infinite is good news overall, some fans were actually hoping to see the return of BXB combos. In Halo 2 and Halo 3, they were actually considered a skilful move and something to be taught. They weren’t quite as windmill-y back then, though.
