Halo Infinite How to Kill Hunters (Tips Tricks & Strategies)

Halo Infinite features many returning species of enemies that veteran players have faced in past Halo games, and facing the Hunters specifically is a challenge without the right strategy. Hunters are the large, orange aliens that make inaudible sounds and always fight in pairs in Halo Infinite. They’re marked by the spikes of their armor on their backs. In Halo Infinite, Hunters are always seen wearing dark blue or dark red armor. Additionally, one of their arms is outfitted with a shield while the other holds a mini plasma cannon.

Although some players feel that Halo Infinite’s campaign is too easy on higher difficulties, most agree that Hunters are some of the toughest enemies that Master Chief has to face. Once Hunters notice the Master Chief, they typically perform a side shuffle to keep their armor in front of them. Any opening between the armor is a weak spot, and, with small spaces to hit, it can be difficult to land a body shot on a Hunter. If Master Chief gets too close, however, Hunters will typically swing their shield arm at Master Chief for a near-instant final blow.

The easiest way to defeat any pair of Hunters is to bring Marines equipped with power weapons like Rocket Launchers or Sniper Rifles. Halo Infinite’s Marines are some of the deadliest NPCs that the series has ever included. Even on Halo Infinite’s Legendary campaign difficulty, the Marines remain resilient and resourceful against even the most powerful of enemies. That being said, not every pair of Hunters can be defeated by bringing in the cavalry, so Master Chief will need to rely upon his surroundings and weapons when he is in a two-on-one situation.

Halo Infinite’s Best Strategies For Killing Hunters

Similar to the Marines, players should be looking for power weapons themselves in order to take down Hunters in Halo Infinite. Grenades and Rocket Launchers go a long way, though they aren’t guaranteed to finish the job. However, players should focus on one Hunter at a time, as it will make fighting the second easier to deal with. Players should treat Hunters like every boss in the Halo Infinite campaign and make full use of the Grappleshot to swing around in tight spaces. Additionally, they should keep an eye out for all types of fusion coils to pick up and throw at Hunters. When enough damage is done, the Hunters’ back armor plating will fall to the ground and leave them open for quick attacks with the Bullfrog or Heatwave. As long as players stick to the side of the shield arm, they can usually avoid the Hunters’ incoming swing while dealing damage because their backswing is often slower than their forearm attacks.

Lastly, if available, vehicles always help defeat Hunters more easily. For example, provided players have more Valor in Halo Infinite, Master Chief can call in a Wasp at a FOB to deal with the Myriad Hunters. Also known as the Myriad Bond Brothers, these Hunters are the Banished’s toughest pair that Master Chief has to fight in the open-world environment of Zeta Halo. There are other enemies in the area around this pair of Hunters as well, and, by using a Wasp or stolen Banshee, players can avoid the Myriad Hunters’ incoming fire more easily while keeping their own fire concentrated on the infamous alien duo.
