The release date for the Harry Potter: Wizards Unite augmented reality game has been pushed to 2019.

Originally targeted to arrive this year, the game is being developed by Warner Bros. Games and Niantic Labs, the company responsible for the runaway hit Pokemon GO. Wizards Unite is expected to employ a similar style of location-based augmented reality game play.

In the newly released trailer, a runaway golden snitch darts around in an alley when a girl from the Wizarding World appears and magically immobilizes it. There is a noise in the distance and in response she quickly places a poster on the wall and disappears.

The poster says “The Wizarding World is at Risk of Exposure. We need your help.”

The trailer directs viewers to “Enlist Now” at WizardsUnite.com, which contains more information about the game. Players will join the newly formed Statute of Secrecy Task Force, whose mission is to contain the traces of magic that are appearing across the Muggle world.

As members of the Task Force, players “will hone lightning-fast wand reflexes, an ability to sniff out the faintest whiff of magical disorder from afar, and proficiency in advanced casting of multiple spells.”

Of course, if the success of Pokemon GO is any indication, secrecy will be the last thing on game players minds, as they take on Wizarding World missions through the game. The rabid Harry Potter fan base could make this game incredibly successful considering it will enable them to live their Wizarding World dreams in the real world.
