Harvest Moon: One World is set to release to the Nintendo Switch on March 2nd, 2021, and farming fans will have the opportunity to try farming animals that haven’t been present in past Harvest Moon or Story of Seasons games. Harvest Moon: One World will be incorporating special locations inspired by real life places into the map players will be able to explore, and with it comes some unique, exotic animal choices that players will be able to raise on their farms.
Faming sims like Harvest Moon have made big changes in recent years thanks to the Nintendo Switch’s powerful graphics. The rise in popularity of open-world games have led to larger maps and exploration style mechanics being introduced into Pokémon Sword and Shield, and now the upcoming One World, as well as Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town. By integrating bigger maps with more regions to explore, players will be able to find unique animals and bring them home to their farms to raise.
Players will see the return of typical barn animals like chickens, cows, horses, and goats that will allow them to collect the milk, wool, and eggs needed to craft different products, but they will also have the option to raise tigers, bears, reindeer, and camels, according to a game announcement on NintendoLife. It is currently unclear what products these new animals will offer players, but they are all cute additions for a their farms. It also appears that reindeer may be used as a regular mount while exploring the world, instead of fans being limited to horses, like in prior Harvest Moon games.
Harvest Moon: One World Will Have DLC Packs For Players To Buy
In addition to these fancy new animals, players will also be able to purchase different DLC packs for Harvest Moon: One World. These packs include new areas, new crops, and two packs that will introduce more pets and ten animals with fantasy-themed designs. The “Mythical Wild Animal Pack” will include options like mint tigers and lava rabbits, as well as eight other animals that have yet to be announced. The use of mythical animals has also been seen in the upcoming Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, with the introduction of a unicorn mount being teased on Xseed’s facebook page.
It appears that players will be able to use a special feature in One World, allowing them to pack up their farm and move it to different regions within the game. This will be the first time a farm has been “portable” in any Harvest Moon or Story of Seasons game and will provide interesting mechanic changes, as player exploration won’t be restricted by how far they can travel in a day while still managing farmyard chores. Harvest Moon: One World’s inclusion of new animals from different regions will help add flavor and a unique twist to a series that has stayed largely the same throughout the decades of titles released.
