Hasbro has revealed a range of toys and action figures that will be released for Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Saturday will see the launch of the New York Toy Fair 2018, and Hasbro is preparing to release a stunning line-up. Marvel fans, for example, have recently been treated to a glimpse of a new range of Marvel Legends figures, designed to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the MCU. Needless to say, Star Wars fans aren’t going to be left out. Hasbro has just announced a range of action figures to be released alongside Solo: A Star Wars Story.

The newly announced Hasbro releases include a range of figures in the popular Black Series. These 6-inch scale figures are known for their detail and articulation. Fans can expect action figures based on Alden Ehrenreich’s Han Solo, Donald Glover’s Lando Calrissian, Emilia Clarke’s Qi’ra, and an intriguing new Range Trooper. Although Black Series figures for Rogue One suffered some quality-control issues, Hasbro resolved the problems in time for The Last Jedi. These are sure to be back to the normal high quality. It’s likely there will be more Black Series figures inspired by the movie, too.

Hasbro is taking the opportunity to announce some new figures in the traditional 3.75-inch range, as well. Two new Disney-era characters are making their debut in this range: Maz Kanata from the Sequel Trilogy, and K-2SO from Rogue One. They’re supported by a Sequel Era figure of Luke Skywalker, a new Chewbacca, and – fresh from Solo – a model of Qi’ra. Both Lucasfilm and Hasbro seem to believe Qi’ra will be a popular character; Lucasfilm recently placed her front-and-center in Solo’s marketing.

As if anyone had any doubt Solo would finally reveal the famous “Kessel Run,” Hasbro has announced a new model of the Millennium Falcon designed to go with the 3.75-inch range. It certainly sounds to be a fun design, as Hasbro announced:

“Fans will experience flashing lights and sounds as they pretend to race along KESSEL RUN. Press the button to pretend that the iconic starship kicks in to hyperdrive with lights and sounds. Press the button a second time for accelerated lights and sounds as well as activate the rumble pack vibrations! Push the button a third time to pretend that your ship picks up even more speed and watch the panels pop off before rumbling to the finish line!”

Finally, Hasbro has also revealed a new Force Link Starter Set featuring Han Solo. This is one of Hasbro’s newest ranges, an attempt to increase the attractiveness of their 3.75-inch range. The Force Link is a gauntlet that fans can wear that triggers sound effects from selected Star Wars action figures. It’s similar to a 1999 series released alongside The Phantom Menace, although dramatically improved.

With Solo due to release in just 100 days, fans had always assumed Hasbro would use the New York Toy Fair to announce their tie-ins. While nothing here is particularly surprising, however, collectors will still find it exciting. The Black Series in particular is critically acclaimed, and new figures in that range are always must-buys. Meanwhile, general fans will be intrigued by Hasbro’s focus on Qi’ra as a key character. Her actual role in Solo remains a mystery, and – at this late stage in the game – that’s particularly exciting.
