Patch 17.2 is live in Hearthstone and brings with it the tiniest Warlock you ever did see, changes to the Battlegrounds, and quality of life improvements to the client and Zephrys the Great. For starters, Nemsy Necrofizzle is available in the in-game shop and is free for all players between May 12-19. The Gnome Warlock skin was first released in October of 2017 but could not be purchased, only gained by attending certain Fireside Gatherings. It seems that Nemsy has been exclusive for long enough, and now all players can acquire the skin for free.

The updates to the Battlegrounds are straightforward but helpful in keeping the meta fresh. First, Dire Wolf Alpha has had enough of the mode and is no longer available from the minion pool. A new minion, Rabid Saurolisk, has been added with text that reads “After you play a minion with Deathrattle, gain +1/+1.”

Three new heroes have been added to choose from and will be available May 26. However, players with Battlegrounds perks will find they have access right now. Lady Vashj is the first hero, with a Passive Hero Power that reads “After you upgrade Bob’s Tavern, replace his minions with ones of a higher Tier.” Maiev Shadowsong is the second hero, with a hero power that costs [1] that reads “Make a minion in Bob’s Tavern Dormant. After 2 turns, get it with +1/+1.” Lastly, Kael’thas joins as the third hero with a passive hero power that reads “Every third minion you buy gains +2/+2.”

Outside of the Battlegrounds, an unexpected quality of life improvement has been added as players can now reorder their deck lists. Inside of the Collection Manager, players need only click and hold down on a deck button to begin rearranging them as desired, like smartphone apps. In addition, End of Season reward progression can now be highlighted in green within the Rewards Chest. This can be found in the Quest Log and is quite useful for tracking individual progress.

Finally, Zephrys the Great has (again) received several improvements to how he determines what the “perfect” card is. At this rate, the card will be working as intended right around the time it rotates into Wild format.

All these changes are quite good, but the giveaway of Nemsy to players who do not have the Warlock skin is truly great. While the previous conditions of playing at specific Fireside Gatherings was not too difficult, there are certainly players for which it was more difficult than others.
