Options for streaming services grow by the year, but how much does each of them cost? The costs vary, depending on the platform. There’s already plenty to choose from, plus three more are on the horizon. Apple TV+, which focuses on original content, and Disney+, which is packed with shows and movies from its in-house properties, Fox, Pixar, and Marvel, launched in late 2019. The next big upcoming streaming service is HBO Max, which will launch in May of 2020.
Not too long ago, the only major streaming services around were Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu, but in recent years the market has become rather crowded. In what’s now being dubbed “the streaming wars,” various platforms are providing subscribers with full access to extensive libraries of television shows and movies. At this point, almost all of them have something unique to offer that can’t be viewed anywhere else: original content. CBS, Amazon, Apple, and Disney are all getting in on the act by producing large quantities of original programming.
All the major upcoming services have now released details of their prices, making it possible for all of them to be compared. The services range in costs from $4.99 to $14.99 a month. Paying for each of the 9 major services adds up to a hefty sum.

One of the big takeaways from these prices is that Apple TV+ is significantly cheaper than all other services. And of course, there’s a reason for that. Unlike all the other services, Apple TV+ doesn’t carry any licensed content, so everything available to watch on the platform is an original movie or TV show. It’s also worth noting that several of these, such as Disney+, aren’t able to compete with Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, when it comes to the sheer amount of movies and shows in their catalogue. For this reason, the other services have to appeal to customers by promoting their high-profile original shows, like CBS All Access with its Star Trek shows, and Disney+ with its Marvel and Star Wars content. The recently announced Peacock service from NBC Universal looks poised to compete on both fronts, with old favorites like The Office and Frasier alongside original titles like a Saved by the Bell reboot, and a new Battlestar Galactica series.
If one were to decide to subscribe to all of these services at one time, they would have to pay a hefty sum of $99.90 This would be the only way to get all of the original content, but most who are interested in streaming services usually pick and choose which ones have the content that best suits their preferences at a given time.
