Ark Hunters, the end of the shaky human and Votan forced alliance nears the end. Trion Worlds has announced that both Defiance and Defiance 2050 “will officially cease all operations on April 29, 2021.” Time to earn that last bit of scrip, bullet-hose a few more Volge, and make your last Arkfall runs before saying goodbye to Paradise.
The announcement was made on February 23 on the trionworlds.com Defiance/Defiance 2050 website, followed up by social media posts on the 24th. Also as of the 24th, Trion states in the announcement that all cash purchases have been disabled, and any bits you bought prior to the 24th will be useable until the end of service.
As both games near the final Arkfall, Trion is setting up events and special items in-game for the remaining player base. Along with the continuation of all the usual game services, the devs will be adding item giveaways, as well as experience points, reputation, and skill boosts across the servers. Server-wide events are being planned for both games, and are scheduled for every one to two weeks. A “95% discount on all in-game items sold for Bits in the Defiance Store” is also included.
“This decision was not an easy one to make. We concluded that both games could no longer sustain themselves.
While we are discontinuing the games service, we will never forget the incredible journey we embarked on together. It is never easy to announce the shutdown of any game, knowing how much time and effort we have all put into making Defiance and Defiance 2050 enjoyable for many years.”
While these two games are scheduled to go offline, Trion devs pointed to its other games as places to keep gaming with them in, and have included the enticement of free game codes for the following games:

Defiance and Defiance 2050 players who are also subscribed to the newsletter can expect to see “gifts to specific games from gamigo’s portfolio in a follow-up newsletter.” You can sign up for the newsletter through your Trion Worlds Glyph account.
The Game Closure FAQ has more details on specific end-of-life items, and the announcement has info regarding Bit purchases by Loyal Spenders, including how you can get your Bits transferred to another game in gamigo’s library. So, if you’ve never tried out Defiance or Defiance 2050, you have until this April to do so. Hopefully, Trion Worlds will finally reveal who the voice actor is for Cass Ducar before unplugging the games.
