There are many collectibles to find in Horizon Forbidden West, but the most hidden of them all are the three War Totems. These small wooden figures are references to God of War, and can only be found through thorough exploration.
As these totems can be quite difficult to find, we’ve put together their locations here – to make it easier for you to grab these cool little Easter eggs.
Totem Of War Location
The first totem is a depiction of Kratos from God of War. To find this totem, head to the point above on the first map. Aloy will notice an axe stuck in a tree, and can examine it to find tracks. Follow the tracks to the second map location, and you will find a hut.
The tracks lead through an area guarded by Sunwings and Stalkers, so be extra stealthy or prepare for a fight.
In the snow under the shelter of the hut, you can find the Totem of War by some barrels. Pick it up to add it to your inventory.
Totem Of Youth Location
The second Totem is a carving of Atreus, Kratos’ son. It can be found shown on the map above, on a platform of ruins not far from Golden Gate Bridge.
Grapple up onto the platform and pick it up to add it to your collection. Watch out for the Stormbird in the area – you’ll either have to sneak and grab the Totem first, or kill the Stormbird beforehand.
Totems Of Brotherhood Location
On the map location above, Aloy will spot a hammer stuck in a dead machine. Investigating the hammer will reveal a trail, leading off to the nearby island.
Follow the trail, and you will find a small opening with what appears to be Cauldron technology inside. Grab the Totems of Brotherhood from this opening and add them to your inventory.
What Do You Get For Collecting All Three War Totems?
After you have grabbed each of the War Totems, you will be given a new face paint – the Mark of War. This face paint mimics Kratos’ appearance, covering Aloy in a pale white and leaving a red mark down the left eye. Wear it proud and face the biggest machines you can find.
