First released in 1996, the Pokemon series has become something of a cultural phenomenon. With eight generations of mainline titles and countless spinoffs, Pokemon has graced every Nintendo handheld and console from the Game Boy and Nintendo 64 onwards. With an equally successful anime series, mobile games, and countless pieces of physical merchandise, the Pokemon franchise continues to grow and expand.

With such staggering popularity comes a passionate fan base, and Pokemon’s is as spirited as they come. From countless pieces of fan art to custom Pokemon cards based on pet cats, the Pokemon community produces a multitude of various ways to creatively celebrate the storied monster-collecting franchise. Now, one inspired Pokemon fan has shared some pins that combine the series with a rather surprising crossover.

Reddit user FILLEDWITHMAGIC has shared a post featuring some custom-made pins with the Pokemon Subreddit. The pins combine the Pokemon Ninetales and Bulbasaur with characters Dale and Bill from the hit FOX animated series, King of the Hill. The crossover creations, affectionately titled NineDales and Billbasaur, showcase the bodies of the Pokemon mixed with the heads of the King of the Hill characters in a hilarious and even somewhat unsettling way.

The post has been a hit with the Pokemon Reddit community, earning over 825 upvotes as of writing. Other Reddit users are praising the obscurity of the unique pins and cracking jokes regarding what the mixed characters’ Pokemon-style attacks would be, while also imagining what other King of the Hill characters could look like as a Pokemon design. The pins are available for sale at the Foxy Oxygen LLC Etsy store.

Pokemon’s vast wealth of creative monster designs from twenty-five years worth of content give aspiring artists plenty of material to create extraordinary and uncommon pieces of fan art and crossovers. Other Pokemon fans have crossed over the franchise with everything from Destiny 2 to Planet of the Apes. Pokemon’s flexibility in character design really allows artists to pair the series up with almost anything.

Of course, Pokemon isn’t the only franchise that manages to inspire various crossovers and pieces of fan art. Some other gaming series even features crossovers in an official capacity, like Call of Duty: Warzone’s Judge Dredd merger or Fortnite’s multiples crossovers with properties like the NBA, among others. Still, the bizarreness of fan-made Pokemon amalgamations like FILLEDWITHMAGIC’s King of the Hill pins are as unique as gamers will likely ever see.

The next entry in the Pokemon franchise, Pokemon Legends: Arceus, is set to release on January 28, 2022 for the Nintendo Switch.
