As its title suggests, Pokémon GO is a game players can take with them anywhere. However, not all Pokémon GO locations are created equal. The game’s algorithm generates Pokémon based on an area’s population and pre-determined hotspots, like tourist attractions. Traveling is billed as an essential part of Pokémon GO. Incense typically lasts for 30 minutes, but can last longer during special events.
How Remote Pokémon Go Players Can Prepare For an Incense Burst
Luring Pokémon to catch is only one facet of a remote player’s struggle, however. Having enough supplies to catch Pokémon during an Incense session can be challenging if a player isn’t regularly coming into contact with Pokéstops. Spinning Pokéstops while in public areas certainly help bolster one’s in-game backpack, but there are also ways to regularly gain supplies in a relaxed manner in remote locations. Exchanging daily gifts with friends in Pokémon GO is an immediate boon to players’ supplies. Just having one or two friends who engage in daily gift-giving will ensure the average player never runs out of Poké Balls when they’re about to use Incense in-game.
Incense itself is only available free of charge when the trainer levels up. If trainers combine an Incense session with an XP-boosting Lucky Egg, leveling up can occur much faster. Otherwise, Incense has to be bought with either Pokécoins or real-world money in the app’s shop. Remote players might have a hard time earning enough Pokécoins, however, since they’re only won by participating in Pokémon GO’s gym battles.
In the COVID-19 era, Pokémon GO has been very considerate of the fact that players have been stuck at home, and the game has been giving out gifts with items and Remote Raid Passes much more generously. It remains to be seen whether developers will continue this streak of generosity. Regardless, players have been encouraged to perfect their remote playing techniques. It’s possible to become a world-class trainer in a remote area, all without spending a dime.
