How to Find & Catch Buizel in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

Buizel is one of the best Water-type options in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, perfect for those whose starter is Turtwig or Chimchar. Buizel was one of the many Pokémon introduced in the original copies of Pokémon Diamond & Pearl and was even featured as one of Ash Ketchum’s Pokémon in the TV series of the same name. Buizel is a pure Water-type Pokémon, meaning it only has one type and all its associated weaknesses and resistances in Pokémon BDSP. Additionally, Water-type Pokémon moves deal 2x damage to Fire, Ground, and Rock-types, making Buizel an excellent choice when dealing with Gym Leaders and the Elite Four alike.

Buizel is one of the many Pokémon found in both Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and it’s an early find for players who are willing to train it from a lower level to its evolved form, Floatzel. Buizel can also be found in serval locations that players explore later in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, so there are plenty of options for anyone looking to add the sea weasel to their team. Floatzel can also be found among a few different roots in BDSP, though it’ll lack the stat advantages from using it in battle from a low level.

The best location to find a Buizel in the Grand Underground in Pokémon BDSP, which can be accessed shortly after players arrive in Eterna City. Speak with the elderly NPC in the house next to the Pokémon Center to receive the Explorer Kit, allowing players to travel to the Grand Underground. The Grand Underground has various caves filled with strong and rare Pokémon, making this area one of the best spots to find a Buizel. Explore the Fountainspring Cave, Riverbank Cave, and Still-Water Cavern to find Buizel in the Grand Underground, but if it isn’t in any of those types of caves, simply leave the cave and re-enter to force all Pokémon to respawn. Additionally, all Buizel found in the Ground Underground caves will have an Egg Move at their disposal, otherwise known as a move that can only be learned through breeding in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

How To Find, Catch, & Evolve Buizel in Pokémon BDSP

Buizel can also be found on Route 205 in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and in the tall grass outside of the Valley Windworks building, both of which can be explored before receiving the Explorer Kit. Other locations for Buizel in Pokémon BDSP include routes 213 and 224, where the Water-type can be found at a much higher level. As mentioned, catching a Buizel at a higher level will see it closer to its evolving level, but this comes at the cost of stats earned through battling.

Buizel begins evolving into Floatzel at level 26, where it becomes a powerful and speedy physical attacker. Floatzel benefits greatly from moves like Waterfall and Aqua Tail, which can make short work of any Fire, Ground, or Rock-type Pokémon. Having a Floatzel proves to be fruitful against the Elite Four in Pokémon BDSP, as two of their members use either Fire or Ground-type Pokémon exclusively.
