How to Find (& Catch) Comfey in Pokémon Sword & Shield

The Isle of Armor DLC for Pokémon Sword & Shield is an entire expansion, adding over 200 new Pokémon to the game, and giving players a new island to explore. It expands upon the game mechanics introduced in the Wild Area in the original Pokémon Sword & Shield. The entire island features dynamic weather, Pokémon dens in which players can conduct max raids and so many Digletts.

As players wander the island or the ocean surrounding it, they will see many different types of Pokémon. The Pokémon they encounter will also change depending upon the weather. Catching as many unique types of Pokémon as possible and filling out the Pokédex is a core part of the game. Some Pokémon are quite elusive, as they only show up in certain areas and during certain weather conditions. One of those is Comfey.

Getting Comfey in Pokémon Sword & Shield

Comfey is an odd-looking Pokémon, but it’s not like that is unusual for the series. At first sight, Comfey appears to be a wreath. Upon closer inspection, it turns out that the fairy-type Pokémon has gathered up flowers and includes itself in the wreath in what can be described as a bizarre form of clothing. Okay, it’s kind of adorable.

Many of the Pokémon resemble real-world plants and animals and appear where one would expect them. The massive whale supreme Wailord is found in the ocean as might be expected and not somewhere ridiculous for a whale to be like a cave. Caves instead tend to have Woobats, and also ground or rock-type Pokémon. Since fairies don’t exist in real life, where would one expect to find a fairy with a penchant for collecting flowers?

Wonder no more! Comfey can be found in the Soothing Wetlands, which is the area next to the dojo. Some Comfey can also be found in the Forest of Focus. One of the great things about Pokémon Sword & Shield is that players can now see the Pokémon out in the world, whereas in earlier titles they would have to hunt in tall grass. Players can still do that, but Comfey shows up commonly during sunny weather or clear weather. As pictured above, try heading to the beach in front of the Tower of Water, though that is not the only place it can be found.

When it comes to catching new Pokémon, it is wise to invest in Quick Balls. If Quick Balls are thrown in the first turn of a battle, it is much more likely that the Pokémon will be caught. This saves quite a bit of time and ensures that the wild Pokémon is not accidentally knocked out, ending the battle and the hopes of catching it. Of course, it is possible that a Pokémon will escape the Quick Ball, which means they must be captured by conventional means.
