How To Find (& Catch) Mega Charizard Y in Pokémon GO

Mega Evolution has made its debut in Pokemon Go. This guide will help players find and capture Mega Charizard Y in the game. Pokemon Go continues to dominate as one of the world’s most popular mobile titles. Players from all over the world head out into the world to find, capture, trade, and battle Pokemon. The game was a global phenomenon when it released back in 2016 and while the hype has certainly gone done, the game has never been better. With raid battles, trading, teams, and more, the game is the best it has ever been. The newest inclusion is Mega Evolution, a temporary method of evolution that goes beyond a Pokemon’s third phase. Here’s how players can capture Mega Charizard Y.

Mega Evolution made its debut in Pokemon X and Y, the sixth generation of Pokemon games. While much older Pokemon have received a Mega Evolution like Blastoise, Venasaur, and Pinsir, Charizard is a unique take. It is the only Pokemon in existence with two different mega evolutions. In the original games, each Mega Evolution was version exclusive. Meaning only players with Pokemon X could get Charizard X while Pokemon Y players were given Charizard Y. Now, both Pokemon are available for capture in Pokemon Go. Here’s how players can capture their own Mega Charizard Y.

Mega Charizard Y has begun to appear as part of raid battles. Fortunately for players, Mega Charizard Y is easily taken down by Rock-type Pokemon. Rock-type moves do 4x damage to Mega Charizard Y so bringing over Pokemon like Tyranitar and Omastar is the best way to go for this raid battle. Also, make sure to play with at least 7 other trainers to make it easier to take down. Raid battles are a team effort after all. Once the battle is over, the player then just needs to capture Mega Charizard Y in the Premier Balls they are given. That’s how players can capture their own Mega Charizard Y.

Mega Evolutions has been an excellent mechanic to bring older Pokemon back with new skin. Even Pokemon that weren’t super viable like Mawile and Heracross were given a new chance to become stronger than ever. It is likely Z-Moves, a mechanic from Pokemon Sun and Moon will make a return in Pokemon Go. It continues to be the best game for players to play on mobile right now.
