How to Find (& Catch) Spritzee in Pokémon Sword and Shield

As the countdown to the next DLC continues, Pokémon Sword & Shield players may want to keep working on completing their Pokédex and catching all the currently available creatures. This way, as new Pokémon arrive with the Crown Tundra DLC, players can focus all their attention on adding these to their collection. In the game, many of the pre-evolution forms of popular Pokémon are more difficult to find and catch than the evolution forms. This is not true for Spritzee, the pre-evolution of Aromatisse. Players can catch this beaked, wispy Pokémon easily if they know where to look.

Spritzee is a Fairy Type Perfume Pokémon that is weak against Poison and Steel Type moves and is immune to damage from Dragon Type Pokémon. It has a regular and a shiny variant, and both can be found in the wild areas of the Galar region. Spritzee and its evolution, Aromatisse, are only available in the Shield version of the game, so players who opted for Sword will need to do a little more work to catch these Pokémon. In addition, Spritzee is one of the only ways players can add Aromatisse to their Pokédex. Thankfully, Spritzee are fairly common around Route 5. Here’s how to find and catch Spritzee in Pokémon Shield, and how to get one in Pokémon Sword.

Find Spritzee in Pokémon Shield

Spritzee will be easiest to find either on Route 5 in both the Overworld and Non-Overworld areas or out in the open at Giant’s Mirror during heavy fog. Players will find Spritzee in the following locations and under the following conditions:

  • Route 5: In the Overworld in all weather conditions at Level 19-21 (30% spawn chance) and in the Non-Overworld tall grass in all weather conditions at Level 16-18 (14% spawn chance)
  • Glimwood Tangle: Non-Overworld in all weather conditions at level 34-36 (10% spawn chance)
  • Stony Wilderness: Non-Overworld in overcast conditions at level 27-29 (30% spawn chance)
  • Giant’s Mirror: Overworld during heavy fog at level 28-30 (40% spawn chance)

Players should be able to find Spritzee frequently. They can also find some during Max Raid Battles, particularly in the Lake of Outrage.

Catch Spritzee in Pokémon Shield

Players can catch Spritzee fairly easily if they use Poison, Steel, Fighting, Bug, or Dark Type Pokémon. Good choices include Lucario, Klinklang, Steelix, Excadrill, and Bronzong. Players won’t have good luck fighting against Spritzee if they use a Dragon Type Pokémon, so it’s best to leave Hydreigon or Goodra out of it.

Once players manage to get its health down a little, they should be able to capture it by throwing a specialty ball. The Great Ball works well for this purpose.

If players want to evolve Spritzee into Aromatisse, they will need to first purchase a Sachet from the Pokémon Center in the middle of Hammerlocke. It costs 10 BP. Then, while the Spritzee is holding the Sachet, players will need to trade Spritzee to another player. This works best with a trusted friend, as the friend will then need to trade the Aromatisse back to the original player for them to have and use it.

Get Spritzee in Pokémon Sword

In Pokémon Sword, players can still get Spritzee and Aromatisse, but they will need to find a friend or fellow player that currently has an extra they are willing to trade. Often, players can trade Pokémon between the two game versions with others in the community via social media. Alternatively, if two friends opted for different versions of the game, this can be a good way to trade and help one another complete the Pokédex.

A good way to convince someone to trade might be to offer them a Sword-exclusive Pokémon in exchange. This way, both players gain access to a Pokémon they need and can’t get any other way.
