How To Find (& Catch) Therian Forme Thundurus in Pokémon Go

Therian Forme Thundurus has made its way to Pokemon Go. This guide will show players the proper raid counters for defeating and capturing this Pokemon. Pokemon Go is currently hosting its Charged Up event that focuses on Electric-type Pokemon. Not only that, but a small handful of Pokemon have made their debut in the game. This includes Tynamo, an Electric-type Pokemon that originates from the Unova region as well as Mega Manectric from Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Although, the real prize is the first-ever Therian Forme Pokemon to make its way to the game. This guide will show players how they can find and defeat Therian Forme Thundurus.

As with the Season of Legends, it is likely that the entire month of March will be dedicated to all things Therian Forms. Last week, players were given the chance to capture Landorus, Thundurus, and Tornadus in raid battles. Now for the first time ever, their Therian Formes have made their way into the game. Currently, Therian Thundurus is the only one available but it is likely the others will release in the near future. The only way to encounter this Pokemon is by participating in a 5-star raid battle. This guide will show players the best Pokemon to bring along for that battle.

The Best Raid Counters For Therian Forme Thundurus in Pokemon Go

Therian Thundurus is an Electric/Flying-type Pokemon, meaning it has a bad weakness against Ice and Rock-type moves. Make sure to bring those typings to the battle. Here are some examples of the best Pokemon to bring for this challenge.

  • Terrakion: SmackDown and Rock Slide
  • Rhyperior: SmackDown and Rock Wrecker
  • Mamoswine: Powder Snow and Avalanche
  • Abomasnow: Power Snow and Weather Ball
  • Rampardos: SmackDown and Rock Slide
  • Weavile: Ice Shard and Avalanche

If the player doesn’t have any of these Pokemon, just try and bring along a Pokemon with any Rock or Ice-type move to help out in the raid battle. Since this is a 5-star raid, it is recommended to participate in this battle with at least 5 other players. Any less might make it a bit too difficult to defeat.

Once you reach the capturing phase, make sure to use an original or Golden Razz Berry before every Premier Ball throw. Make sure to wait to throw the ball until after its attack animation is over. If the player runs out of balls, the Therian Thundurus will run away. Be patient and good luck capturing this legendary Pokemon.
